BIM Technician-Roads/Drainage / Qatar

BIM Technician – Roads/ Drainage (often referred to as BIM Modeler) primary function is to support the BIM Specialist and BIM Coordinator in the production and the management of information models (BIM) and creation of accurate design drawings or other model derivatives, as well as quality assurance.

About this role:

Skilled BIM software modelling expert with solid understanding of the specific design discipline leveraging on BIM enabled software (Civil 3D, Infraworks, Navisworks)Assist the BIM Specialist and BIM Coordinator in the BIM delivery for Project(s) within the DepartmentBIM Technician shall be considered an evolved CAD Drafting position to suit within BIM technology environmentKnowledge of the BIM process, regarding roads and infrastructure disciplineAssist BIM Manager and BIM CoordinatorsCollaborate with a team of professionals to produce 3D information models and drawings with minimal supervisionDevelop and deliver, in conjunction with supply chain structured BIM models for programs/ projects Ensure that the model is compliant with standards and goals set in BIM Execution Plan and BIM project workflow criteriaCollaborate and coordinate design changes and model changes with other disciplinesConduct quality assurance of BIM submissions or designs to ensure compliance with standardsDevelop and model discipline specific BIM objects for projects in coordination with the Engineering Services DepartmentAbility to export to different formats to collaborate internally and externallyAdhere to effective project quality procedures

What you need to bring:

Diploma in Engineering/ Academic degree (e.g., Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management)Excellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishDiploma or a degree from a recognized university in an appropriate field such as Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management or equivalentHolding Qatari Driving LicenseExperience of working in Qatar and / or the Gulf regionMinimum 7 years of experience and at least 4 years of experience in BIM projects and software (e.g., Civil3D, Navisworks, Infraworks)Experience of working in Roads / Infrastructure projects for a minimum of 4 years with a range of experience in terms of types of projects (local roads and expressways) including all design stages (concept and detailed design) and employers (consultants and contractors)In-depth knowledge of BIM procedures with good understanding of integration from/ to BIM with other applications with preferable considerable experience in roads/ infrastructure projectsTechnically proficient in all aspects of BIM and experience in multi-disciplinary coordinationEager to support other staffs with positive attitude, passion and patienceAbility to uphold the use of standards and escalate issues in a timely fashionAbility to work to deadlines set by BIM Specialist and BIM CoordinatorEagerness to learn with the potential to develop into the role of BIM CoordinatorEffective in building good working relationships within teams of complex structures, both internally and with various external project stakeholdersKnowledge of using information models for measurement, construction scheduling, cost management is desirableKnowledge on BIM processes e.g., 3D design coordination and clash detectionKnowledge in model-based drawing productionKnowledge of 3D rendering, and visualization is an added advantage
