The valued client, a large Oil & Gas company are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join their Calgary, AB team on a long term contract basis.
Job Responsibilities:
• Project development including business cases, management presentations and approvals
• Design, develop and sustain Automation, Control and Operational Technology (ACOT) solutions to support Operations, Engineering, and other business groups
• Develop projects to improve safety, reliability and costs using Control System and/or OT solutions
• Coordinate ACOT team resources
• Utilize and support management of change processes
• Provide Automation engineering support to Operations, Maintenance and Project Teams
• Support factory well pad project design, oversight, FAT and integration with existing infrastructure and applications
• Provide technical input for development by Integrators and Vendors
• Support Automation, Process Control and OT future state planning and development
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Process Control, Instrumentation) or relevant degree/diploma
• 10 + years of relevant upstream oil & gas engineering experience supporting operational facilities
• 1+ years’ of experience with the design, development and support of automation solutions using RTUs, PLCs, SCADA Telecommunications, SCADA, Data Historians and Real-time analytical and visualization systems
• Knowledge of I&C systems engineering design and development including Cause/Effect Matrix, Shutdown Keys, Narratives and System Function Design Basis as well as QA/QC and Factory Acceptance Testing • Demonstrated commitment to safety
• Ability to represent the client’s interests in a constructive and professional manner during interactions with internal and external stakeholders
• Project Engineering and Project Management including team leadership, scope, schedule and cost control
• Strong written/verbal and presentation skills and team/inter-team work skills
• Objective and structured thinker with strong aptitude towards developing processes and support systems
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications:
• Registered EIT or P.Eng. in Alberta or British Columbia
• Knowledge of Process Control System design, tuning and optimization
• Programming such as SQL, VB/VBA, C/C++, Control languages including Ladder Logic and Function Block
• Experience with SCADA Pack RTUs and Allen Bradley PLCs, SCADA such as Wonderware, Clear SCADA and SCADAVantage, OSI PI historian and AF Analytics, and real-time Visualization tools such as OSI Vision, Siemens XHQ and Honeywell Operational Insight
Work Schedule:
• 9/80 schedule - must be available between 8 am - 4 pm M-F
• Hybrid work schedule - Must be in the office Tuesday - Thursday. WFH optional Monday & Friday
• No relocation offered
• Candidate must be local to Calgary / able to travel to office on required days
• OT / Weekend work not expected but could be offered
