On Behalf of an International Oil & Gas in Kurdistan, we are working to hire an experienced candidate for the position of :

Geotechnical Assistant
Location: Erbil Office
work type: full time (Sunday- Thursday)
Open to: Locals Only

Job Summary:
Geotechnical assistant to subsurface operation, ensuring subsurface data-management and wellsite reporting is kept up-to-date and accurate. Support the operations geologist on-site with field visits, geological sampling and vendor audits.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Support operations geologist by participating in development well planning field activities (office, field, vendor visits and audits)
  • Screen daily operational data transmitted from wellsite and perform first pass QC, flag issues to operations geologist
  • Attend and participate in daily morning call with the rig and liaise with drilling department as required
  • Ensure all data are recorded fully, QA/QC-ed and archived correctly for later use in appropriate data management system including lessons learned
  • Collect input while drilling to ensure timely issuance of Geological End Of Well Reports
  • Assist operations geologist with Well site Geologist’s resource planning
  • Assist with detailed data recording requirements and transmittal to partners / MNR where required
  • Manage in-country tracking and storage of geological rock and fluid samples.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • Minimum BSc in Geology or equivalent degree in geoscience.
  • Petroleum Geology, petroleum engineering, mudlogging, drilling, drilling service provider (MWD/LWD and WL) background and experience.
  • -Good knowledge about data and reports acquired/submitted during drilling operations. Geological and drilling operations data QC and management. A good candidate should have decent rig site experience to handle this task.
  • Above the average English communication skills to enable him to compose and edit reports (e.g. geological, mudlogging and drilling reports). Previous relative experience is essential.

  • Minimum 2 years as a Geologist in the oil and gas industry
  • Proven ability to work with wide range of data.
  • Kurdistan operational geology experience is preferred
