The company 

You will be joining a Tier 1 Construction Company with an excellent reputation in the Rail sector. The purpose of this position is to manage project safety assurance and systems engineering activities and provide systems
assurance advice and support to a major Rail project. 

Key 
Responsibilities:

  • Lead a culture and set of behaviours that support the “Next Gear” principles in HSE and Quality by setting clear standards and acting as a role model to others.
  • In-depth knowledge of systems engineering and system safety and associated management processes with the ability to apply these across multiple projects/programs of work.
  • Knowledge of engineering management principles.
  • Resolve complex issues pertaining to safety and risk across multiple projects.
  • Undertake Safety Assurance (SA) analysis for the design, including Hazard Identification (HAZID), safety controls, actions and produce/review the related safety documentation.
  • Establish that the safety requirements have been included in the design and communicated to relevant construction/commissioning parties.
  • Develop Safety Assurance Statements & Safety Assurance Reports.
  • Develop / update and ensure Systems Assurance Plan implementation.
  • Develop / update and ensure Systems Engineering Management Plan implementation.
  • Manage the development and implementation of the Requirements Management Process across the project lifecycle
  • Manage the development and implementation of requirements management databases (including DOORS) and coordinate with the project to obtain appropriate verification and validation evidence.
About you
  • Degree qualified in Engineering or Science.
  • 10+ years experience
  • Professionally chartered with a recognised professional institution (Preferred).
  • Knowledge of risk based safety assurance.
  • Knowledge of legislation, standards and guidance, processes and practices related to systems engineering and safety management for rail infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of verification and validation techniques and the application of international safety standards such as IEC15288, IEC61508, EN50126, EN50129 and ‘Yellow Book’.
