Senior Drilling Engineer
Support the Drilling Engineering Supervisor as a DE team member, under direction take ownership of substantial drilling engineering tasks, coordinating with other DE’s, supervising and mentoring junior engineers and engaging with drilling contractor and service company personnel.
CONTRACTOR ASSIGNMENT
SCOPE OF WORKS
• Always ensure the welfare of personnel and the protection of assets and the environment.
• Actively participate in safety programs & training as required.
• Management of engineering studies outside of the scope of day-to-day operations.
• Coordinate Subsurface input and participate in the well planning process.
• Investigation of technical failures and implementation of improvement measures and corrective actions.
• Improvement in operational performance and/or assessment of new techniques or technologies.
• Support of regulatory submissions and approvals sought.
• Management of service contracts and day-to-day coordination with service company focal points for personnel and equipment mobilization.
• Author, compile or review Drilling Programs, Detailed Procedures, Risk Assessments and After-Action Reviews.
• Review of wellsite data, Daily and EOW reports.
• Participate in quality assurance auditing of service providers.
• Participate in equipment failure investigations and incident investigations.
QUALIFICATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications & Licenses
• Relevant Engineering or Science degree.
Critical Skills and Capabilities
• Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Drilling Engineer in the oil & gas industry.
• Strong working knowledge of projects in the upstream E&P industry.
• Experience with relevant software packages for T&D, hydraulics and well thermal casing design.
• Ability to work within a Drilling function.
• Well Planning through all phases.
• Supervision and oversight of assigned well engineer(s) during operations, maintaining situational awareness with respect to well barriers in use and verification status of barriers.
• Contract management.
Key Experiences Requirements
• Experience with MODU and Jack-Ups and a range of well types, including SDE experience for both exploration and development wells.
• Browse Basin experience preferred.
• HPHT experience preferred.
