Are you a Senior Engineer with significant Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) experience? Are you looking for a new, exciting challenge with a global Oil & Gas company?
If so, we may have the perfect opportunity for you! We are currently recruiting for a Senior Flow Analyst, to join our client on a permanent basis. You can be based in one of 3 locations (Aberdeen, Surrey or Flotta), work a standard 37.5 hour week and will have the opportunity to work closely with a team of mechanical, process & project engineers, delivering key, high value projects on a day-to-day basis.
As a Senior Flow Analyst, you will take responsibility for CFD activities on projects and innovation required for both internal and external customers, following internally developed best practice approaches as well as helping to evolve those best practices as the need arises. Additionally, we would expect you to have a detailed understanding of general purpose CFD methods and have experience in applying your knowledge and expertise on commercial projects. Whilst not essential, any experience in the application of multiphase CFD modelling approaches to industrial problem solving would be considered a particular advantage.
In terms of qualifications, we would require you to cold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, in a course that has a strong focus on Aerodynamics/Hydrodynamics. Duties & Responsibilities
- Undertake in-house CFD activities on projects and innovation; co-ordinate CFD applications when these are undertaken by third parties and liaise appropriately and effectively with colleagues on objectives, input parameters and results
- Control and enhance specific proprietary design software relating to client's technologies, including but not limited to fluids testing, CFD, process reviews etc.
- Assist in the costing of CFD projects and provide technical input during the tendering stage; participating in the promotion of the company, as required.
- Participate in innovation projects and liaise with project stakeholders on test parameters and results
- Occasional travel as and when required, including to onshore and offshore installations
- Mentor, support and validate the work of junior members of the team
- Significant experience in the application of CFD to industrial problem solving
- Experience in the application of multiphase CFD to industrial problem solving
- Some experience in writing software code to help solve engineering problems or to streamline workflows
- Experience in using one or more of the well-known commercial CFD codes (I.e., Star-CCM+, Fluent, CFX, etc.)
- Exceptional skills in the use of Excel, including VBA programming
- Excellent presentation skills with the ability to convey concepts and ideas to other engineers for whom CFD is not their primary focus
- A good understanding of key mechanical design engineering concepts
- Experience in the use of Siemens Star-CCM+
