Brief Description:
The General Shop Technician will assist and learn to perform non-technical duties which include routine housekeeping, cleaning of working areas, shop spaces and equipment; moving equipment, emptying shaving bins, general painting, power washing tools and equipment, learning to repair and maintain tools, while possessing a helpful/willing attitude.
Detailed Description:
• Ensure working areas and shop spaces are clean and organized
• Ensure all equipment is clean and in good working order
• Move materials, equipment, boxes, and furniture as requested
• Replace light bulbs, air filters etc.
• Pressure wash parts, motors, MWD tools, machines, and other equipment
• Dispose of non-usable parts and materials in accordance with company protocols
• Assist in disposal of outdated equipment, materials, and scrap
• Assist in recycling, and waste disposal
• Stock supplies as necessary
• Be trained to learn maintaining and repairing tools
• Participate in all required meetings, training and development activities as needed
• Performs other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
• Perform all assigned duties and functions in accordance with instructions
• Obey Company rules and regulations
• Ability to work as a team player
• Ability to interact productively with coworkers and third parties
• Ability to safely navigate work sites with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc. during normal operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather)
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds independently
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl on occasion
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times
Preferred Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED
• Experience working in a shop environment
• 6 months previous work history
• Forklift experience a plus
Work Environment
This position may require occasional work in office locations as well as outdoors in all types of weather including precipitation, cold/heat, high wind, and turbulent conditions. The General Shop Technician must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties.
