Goals and primary functions of the position:
• Do written translation of technical and other documentation generated in the company, other companies and external agencies; provide interpretation for all meetings with the Management, top-level officials, representatives of state agencies and other companies; provide simultaneous translation upon request.
Translator Job Functions and Duties:
• Does written translation of letters, instructions and technical documentation generated in the company, other companies and external agencies
• Provides interpretation for meetings attended by representatives of other companies and state agencies
• Provides interpretation during visits of top-level authorities to the company
• At the request of Language Services coordinator provides interpretation for management meetings with top-level authorities and other events with participation of the management held in the company facilities.
• Provides simultaneous translation at their request
• Assigned to different departments at discretion of the management
• Covers for other level 18-21 translators during their long-term or short-term absence.
Must be able to:
• Make a detailed action plan to perform tasks;
• Collect, consolidate, structure information;
• Work independently under minimum control of performance;
• Estimate his/her strengths and weaknesses; take practical self-development steps;
• Share experience and information with colleagues to achieve team goals;
• Express his/her thoughts clearly and structuredly in written and verbal form;
Must know:
• Translation techniques;
• Existing translation coordination system;
• Specifics of the company (department) operations;
• Specific terminology used for translation;
• Dictionaries, terminology standards, miscellanea, references;
• Basics of scientific and literary editing;
• Higher Education and work experience of minimum 3 years as Category II Translator
• Candidate for this level must have a certificate on completion of at least one simultaneous translation course.
• Proficient user of Microsoft office (Excel, Word)
• Kazakh, Russian, English
• Advanced working knowledge of grammar, vocabulary and stylistics
Entitled to:
• Familiarize with draft decisions of management related to issues in his/her sphere
• Introduce to management proposals for work improvement, related to job functions provided by this job description
• Enjoy safe and healthy working conditions
• Require and receive information and documents required to perform his/her job functions from management and other specialists in accordance with the established procedure
• Demand assistance in performing job functions and rights from management.
Accountable for:
• Non-execution or improper execution, quality and timeliness of his job functions provided by the job description, within the limits of applicable ROK legislation
• Compliance with labour and performance discipline, safety, labor protection and fire safety requirements.
• Integrity of work documentation and compliance with data privacy requirements in terms of information received in the process of performing his job functions.
• Compliance with internal regulatory documents, company rules and procedures/policies.
• Timely informing immediate supervisor about potential and identified risks for the company business unit
• Material damage (loss) caused to the company by his activities (in activities) related to performing his job functions
