The client is looking for a Senior Hydrogeologist/Senior Hydrologist to be part of the multi-disciplinary team responsible for the development of an underground characterization effort in support of the Pre-feasibility study and for the continued operation of the clients mines underground drainage gallery.
You will be involved at the early stages and with the success of the existing drainage gallery through the management of hydrogeological risk via the design and implementation of hydrogeological monitoring programs and depressurization strategies. The ability and willingness to take accountability for the underground hydrogeological program is crucial. You will be supported by a strong team of hydrogeologists both at the Mine and within client Technical teams and strong linkages with these groups is expected.
Reporting to the Project Manager and working for the project, you will:
· Provide technical input, management, and presentation of results related to hydrogeology and water management for the underground mining studies
· Provide hydrogeological oversight to the continued operation of the Mine's underground drainage gallery depressurization system
· Design and implementation of depressurization, water management and monitoring strategies
(Passive drains, underground wells, probe drilling/grouting programs, piezometers) including working
alongside drilling contractors
· Management and maintenance of the hydrogeological monitoring program
· Assemble the underground hydrogeological data and contribute to the preparation of quarterly depressurization status reports to identify current depressurization levels against plan and develop depressurization strategies where plan is not being met
· Provide guidance on underground water management issues to other business services (Approvals, Environment, Engineering and Asset Management, contractors)
· Provide technical input into establishing hydrogeological standards and guidelines
· Scope of work preparation, engagement and management of consultants for groundwater investigations (including the review of consultant's reports and recommendations) as required
What you'll bring

· Bachelor's Degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Civil/Environmental Engineering or Geological Engineering
· A valid and current driver license
· At least ten years of operational or consultant experience of which five years have been
focused on underground hydrogeology in a fractured rock environment with a demonstrated
commitment to safety
· Demonstrated intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office, MineSight, LeapFrog, Vulcan,
or other 3D geological modeling/visualization software
· The ability to work independently and to take the initiative
· Strong planning, organizational, project management and communications skills
· Strong technical report writing skills.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
· Post graduate qualifications in engineering, geology, hydrogeology or water resource
management
· PG or PE registration
Know ledge of 2D & 3D groundwater modeling
· Object based programing (Python, Java Script, Visual basic)
· Knowledge of GIS tools (ArcMap)
· Experience with SQL based databases.
