Embedded within the business with a direct reporting line to the Business Analyst, the cost controller is responsible for delivering cost transparency and value to the business by promoting the principles of good cost control practice.
Works across multiple departments so must be aware of changes in requirements of stakeholders.
Have a good understanding of the specific business activities to ensure spend is monitored accurately
To provide finance support, PR/ PO/ Invoices to the stakeholders in each department responsible
Manage additional volume of enquiries, reports and invoices related to specific departments
Support the business analyst by providing analysis on cost reporting
Support wider finance community by participating in monthly closure activities
To ensure continuous and open communication with all stakeholders
Number of Departments responsible for: (Up to 5) As required by structure
Knowledge of Company HSE policy, rules and procedures
Participation to HSE activities and global improvement initiatives
Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist the Business Analyst to prepare annual budget for each department responsible for. Assist the business Analyst to prepare for Budget session presentations to Management
Support the preparation of revised forecast information based on latest headcount, vendor terms & conditions, scope of work
Month- end closure & Reporting
Prepares all necessary SAP entries and documentation for the closure including receipts, scheduled and manual accruals and cost allocations to ensure accurate statements
Liaise with the P2P and Contract and Procurement teams for invoice and contract and PO related queries
Support the Business Analyst to prepare monthly cost report providing input to variance analysis and movements
Support the Business Analyst in delivering cost KPIs
Support the Business Analyst to ensure costs control measures are maintained to monitor, review, and analyze projects from inception till completion
Promote a good P2P practice throughout the organization with no invoices received without PO and all approval of invoices in compliance with DOA
Responsible for validation of PR raised by business which is verified against budget creation
Invoice verification against PO prior to business release
Comply with provisions of contracts, JVA and Delegation of Authority
Prepare ad-hoc cost monitoring reports for entities under direct responsibility
Support the Business Analyst to contributes to responses to audit queries and to resolution of audit exceptions
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT:
Be the visible Finance support to the business by creating open communication
Establish a common point of meeting with your stakeholders (weekly/ monthly) and continue to understand from them their business
Have a good understanding of the Finance Processes and timetable
Support the Business Analyst by reporting changes and movements in plans or activities early
Works closely with requisitions to ensure accurate financial information is provided, in line with work programmes
Have an understanding of cost/budget process and numbers
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
5 years Finance/Cost Control experience in Oil & Gas. Preferably cost related to Drilling & Wells. Experience in a JV environment would be a plus.
A technical degree is advantageous but not necessary or degree in accounting, finance or business-related courses.
Good eye for detail
Good communication and interpersonal skills. Fluent in English.
Good systems knowledge, especially SAP FI/CO, BW and Excel
