The Role

This role is much more than a typical CEO role – we are seeking a blend of strategic thinking and hands on delivery in order to achieve results.    A typical day will include analysing and reviewing finances, meeting with a funder, meeting with clinical staff and the DHB, meeting a resident’s family to discuss care and exploring plans for future opportunities.     Reporting directly to the Chairman of the Board, the CE role will encompass:
  • Strategic direction of Tainui – exploring opportunities, delivering strategic initiatives, operational plans and continuous improvement of quality and service for success
  • Overall fiscal responsibility to ensure sustainability and longevity of Tainui which includes financial and commercial management, funding, auditing, robust processes, commercial competence and financial reporting. There will be some hands on work in this area at a high level while managing administrative assistants. This will involve a good understanding of the accounting systems and processes.
  • People leadership & engagement – responsibility for development of culture people, stakeholders, volunteers to ensure that the culture of the organisation always reflects the vision and values
  • Service orientation – to ensure that all best practice service and care is at the heart of all we do; that the organisation continually reflects and evolves to deliver the highest quality service to include spiritual, pastoral, clinical and cultural care. 
  • Building and maintaining successful and respectful relationships with key stakeholders, including community, whan?u, funders and providers for the ongoing success of Tainui
  • Visible and connected Leadership - the “face” of Tainui with staff, residents, community, stakeholders, funders
