The open position is with the Gas Chromatography Team in the Petroleum Materials & Characterization (PMC) group. The Gas Chromatography Team is responsible for gas phase separations using routine methods such as ASTM D2887. The quality of data released from the lab is monitored by quality control charts and frequent instrument calibration. Various analytical instrumentation used: GC-FID, GC-SCD, and GC- TCD.
RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but are not limited to):
-The open position requires working in the Gas Chromatography Team.
-This is a high-volume laboratory which requires fast turnaround time, capability to set different test methods in gas and organic media.
-The successful candidate will prepare samples and perform standard and non- standard analytical measurements using at least one of the following instrumental analyses: GC-FID, GC-SCD or GC-TCD.
-Since this position requires working with solvents and hydrocarbon samples, an understanding of hazards and safeguards associated with working with chemicals is desired.
-Reviewing large volumes of data and quality control interpretation, applicants are required to have good planning, organizing and flexibility skills.
-Effectively communicate orally and in writing with supervisors, peers, facility support people, project customers and suppliers; document all experiments, data and analyses in laboratory notebooks and spreadsheets; write standard operating procedures, technical reports, peer review articles and presentations.

-One to three years related experience
-Proficient with Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
-Gas chromatography skills
-Relocation will not be considered within Chevron parameters
-Expatriate assignments will not be considered
-Excellent manual dexterity and eyesight to carry out work on small objects with precision tools.
-Ability to maintain and troubleshoot lab apparatus are highly desirable.
-Bachelor's degree in chemistry, environmental chemistry, or Biochemistry
