Contract: Welding and Materials Engineer / USA

Location: Houston, USA
Duration:Contract - 12 months

The Role:
Position Summary:

A. Provide technical expertise in the review and development of welding
and materials testing programs
B. Oversee the Contractors engineering work proposals and plans
particularly with respect to pipeline reeling (candidate has a significant
background in pipeline reeling)
C. Physically oversee and monitor the execution of qualification of
welding and material test programs as well as being present during the
stalk welding in the Contractor spool base and offshore during the
installation works

Organisational Structure:

The incumbent will report directly to the Offshore Delivery Manager.

Key Accountabilities:

Accountable to the Engineering Manager for;
-Managing the Material, Welding and NDE activities during the Project
Detailed Engineering phase and Construction Phase
- Respecting HSE rules and requirements and ensuring that the design and
the resulting operations will be performed in compliance with a high
regard to Health, Safety, Security and Environmental requirements.

Authority/Influence over Resources:
?- Ability to lead, motivate, direct and develop disciplined staff and
facilitate delivery via other functional and operations staff
? -The incumbent is responsible for the efficient use of their personal
time to ensure all tasks are achieved within allocated project plan
milestones, or time lines given

Authority for Change:
?- Influence internal and external stakeholders for improvements in the
field of quality, welding and materials which benefit the project.

?- QA/QC
?- Engineering
Key External Relationships:
?- Line Pipe /Material suppliers / manufacturers
?- Major Installation Contractors
?- Independent Third Parties e.g. DnVGL, LR etc.

Time Horizon:
?- Yearly performance will be judged against specific HSE initiatives and
targets associated with the implementation and management of client's procedures and guidelines

Experience Needed:
Minimum Education:
?- Master of Science degree in Material/Welding Engineering and/or
Mechanical Engineering

Minimum Experience:
?- 15+ years' experience working for consulting engineers or oil and gas
exploration / production companies with a proven track record in
similar positions

Required Skills / Certifications:
? Specialization: Material, Welding and NDE
? Minimum 10 years of experience in offshore pipeline construction
? Experience in QC audits of construction vessels and construction yards
related to Material, Welding and NDE
? Firsthand knowledge of Deep Water Developments
? Fully familiar with Pipeline Codes i.e. API 1104 and DnVGL?ST?F101
? PC skills
Language Requirements:
? Fluent English required
