A TAX Free Direct Hire Job Opportunity has just been made available for an experienced Fleet Management Supervisor to be based in Qatar for a terminal operating company providing container, general cargo, RORO, livestock and offshore supply services in Hamad Port, Qatar’s gateway to world trade.
JOB PURPOSE:
Oversee the operation of company's marine fleet and ensure execution of operating plans as per schedule.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Description
? Oversee implementation of company policies, Leadership Model and Health and Safety Systems.
? Oversee risks and identify potential hazards on work site and ensure all incidents and accidents are reported.
Fleet Management
? Carry out day-to-day monitoring and appraisal of vessel performance and progress, both operationally and economically. Monitor condition of vessels, both cosmetically and structurally. Identify any problems and take corrective action.
? Introduce best practices to provide quality technical support. Implement continuous improvement techniques to raise the standard of technical performance of vessels.
? Carry out maintenance planning, control and record keeping, initiating action with regard to maintenance and repairs.
? Maintain close liaison with the workshop to ensure workshop facilities are provided for vessels repairs & maintenance in a smooth and timely manner. Ensure best utilization of fleet for operational purpose as well as for maintenance and repairs.
? Maintain close liaison with Procurement to ensure that vessels receive supplies and spare parts as necessary.
? Ensure maintenance of necessary standards, systems and documentation required by company.
? Responsible for full compliance with Class, Statutory, other regulatory bodies and Terminals’ quality & HSE requirements.
? Develop schedules, repair specifications and budgets for dry-docking of vessels. Follow-up on and document dry-docking operations.
? Develop and control technical budgets for vessels and monitor expenditure to achieve minimum costs and maximum effectiveness.
? Implement planned maintenance system, strategies and plans to enhance all technical activities.
? Keep abreast of new developments within technical fields.
? Monitor and report ship's staff performance and training needs. Ensure Fleet Manager's standing orders, instructions and recommendations are followed.
Risk Management
? Identify significant risks in operational area of current function, assess the risks on an on-going basis and take corrective measures where necessary.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
? Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment
? Ensure compliance to all relevant company’ quality, health, safety and environmental management procedures and controls within a defined area of activity to guarantee employee safety, compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.
Continuous Improvement
? Participate in the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.
Reporting
? Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate statements and reports to meet department requirements, policies and quality standards.
Related Assignments
? Perform other related duties or assignments as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
? Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics.
? License in compliance with STCW II/2.
Minimum Experience:
? 6 years of experience in a similar position.
? Good knowledge in vessels loading or unloading equipment and tools Basic knowledge of related health, safety, security and environmental regulations.
? Possess a good Ship and Marine terminology
? Ship’s general arrangements and safety requirements
? Well-versed in International Safety Management System (ISM)
? Well-versed in International Ship & Port Facility Security Code (ISPS)]
? Well-versed with Quality Management System (QMS)
? Bridge management knowledge
? Bridge equipment knowledge
Job-Specific Skills (Generic / Technical):
• RADAR, ARBA ECDIS and other ships
• Good organizational skills.
• Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills.
• Efficient people management in marine operations.
• Sound Health and safety knowledge.
• Very good command of English.
• Ability to work with key stakeholders through collaboration & teamwork.
• Good communication skills.
