The client, a large oil and gas company, is currently seeking two Data Controllers for a 2 year contract in Calgary, AB.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our client’s project and thus to the success of the project and technical integrity of the operating Asset by working with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, implementing and improving IM standards and identifying innovative IM solutions.

Data Control focuses on equipment and tag classes and properties delivered by design and execution contractors and equipment vendors. The Data is collected to be uploaded into target applications and systems used by the various asset operation teams (e.g. SAP/PM for the maintenance team).

The Data Controller shall assist with implementation of Data Control procedures and shall operationalize systems, processes and work instructions as per the IM Plan, which will follow the Company’s  Engineering Information Specification (,AMS(Asset Management System) and project IM delivery best practices.
 

The Data Controller shall:

  • Assist in the delivery of the project data control work instructions covering data validation and handover to Operations, based on the Company’s specific data control delivery procedure.
  • Maintain the project reference data libraries for each data-oriented application.
  • Collect and validate data from the execution contractors and / or internal project stakeholders into a central data repository.
  • Validating and reporting data inconsistencies on the following but not limited to
Document to data (tag, asset) relationships

Tag, Equipment and Model Properties

Ensuring all data submissions by EPC Contractor adheres to the Company specifications.

  • Ensuring  all data is quality assured and loaded into the data repository according to the establish SLA’s
  • Assist with the preparation of data handover to Commissioning and to Operations.
  • Assist with the preparation and issue of the data performance reports.
 

This position is for a Data Controller within the venture IMIT team, which reports to the IM Manager.  Additional dimensions include:

  1. Our client is a path finding project with data-centric handover strategy, plans, and specifications defined as part of the EPC contract; the challenge is to deliver on and enable value to project and asset through this novel approach; 
  2. Work in a non-operated standalone venture leveraging IMIT services and solutions by others.  The IMIT team is streamlined and optimized to support and deliver on all the sub-project, corporate venture, and Asset team requirements (including operational sustainable IMIT organization).  This IMIT team spans multiple locations and leverages transactional capability in high value centers;
  3. Leverage digitalization, agile, and outcome-based delivery to continually improve and enable business value; 
 

  1. Working, and effectively communicating, in a highly virtualized environment in a geographically diverse and multicultural team. Flexible working hours is a requirement;
  2. Multiple project components making up the transition to the asset team;
  3. Ability to work in a fast moving, rapidly changing and dynamic environment of a major Capital Project; and
 

Technical and Business Skills:

    1. Substantial / Extensive experience in Asset Information Management in Greenfield projects;
    2. Previous experience of Operations Readiness & Assurance activities including computerized maintenance and management system build and of managing as-built data.
    3. Experience working with Engineering Data Warehouse (EDW) systems
    4. Experience working with SmartPlant Foundation as a data management tool.
    5. Sound understanding of the Project and Maintenance Engineering environment and awareness of the associated business processes.
    6. Experience with (at least some) engineering and asset applications in terms of data content, for example E-SPIR, S3D, SPPID, SPEL, SPI, SAP/PM.
    7. Working knowledge of (at least some) project reporting software such as Crystal, Business Objects, MS Access, Excel, and PowerBI.
