My client is a cutting-edge UK-based biopharmaceutical company that over the last 20 years has established a world-leading position in their market.
About the Role:
To provide Engineering services primarily in the form of Electrical with Calibrations and Controls Systems maintenance together with other Engineering activities as required.
The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician is a key position within the Company requiring instrumentation and electrical maintenance skills appropriate to a pharmaceutical environment. Whilst expected to work closely with the rest of the Production team, engineering support will need to be provided for the site, across a range of departments. This role has responsibility for maintaining cGxP and H&S knowledge applicable to the job.
Quality is a primary focus to ensure that patients receive a Safe, Effective and Quality Assured product. This requires working to the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). The department is subject to regular visits by senior management, external pharmaceutical companies and regulatory authorities. In order to achieve the high standards required, documented maintenance and calibration is an integral part of the daily routine.
Detailed Responsibilities:
· Electrical tasks to such equipment as, air handling plant, manufacturing and research equipment. Minor electrical installation works and updates.
· Carry out calibration activities to a wide range of equipment.
· Plant and equipment breakdowns and installations with some modifications and additions to existing infrastructure
· Provide electrical support for the Commercial Filling and Packaging Operation
· Support the Production facility
· Provide technical and operational support for the Production Facility Process Control System.
· Ensure that all equipment safety testing such as pressure/pressure relief is kept current and certified.
· Provide operator training and technical support where necessary.
· Provide and keep up to date SOP’s for the Engineering department.
· Service and respond to maintenance breakdown while maintaining compliance with equipment validation and any room maintenance schedules.
· As part of a team, perform the installation qualification (IQ) and operational qualification (OQ) of new plant and equipment.
· Carry out basic building trade functions to ensure the building is kept to a very high standard of repair and is in a “100% audit ready state”
Essential Skills:
An apprenticeship qualified Electrical/Instrumentation technicians educated to C&G as a minimum with suitable post qualification experience. Ideally some of this should have been gained in a regulated pharmaceutical production environment. As a minimum the job holder should have worked under an ISO9000 quality environment and possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
