Client currently delivers Well Servicing activities on approximately 50 work fronts per day.  These work fronts are wide ranging; including coiled tubing stimulations and complex water shut offs, electric line and slickline standalone activity or in support of rigs, well testing and wellhead repairs and maintenance.

 

The Well Services Engineering Manager is the focal point for all engineering support activities; working closely with Drilling and Workover Engineering, the subsurface team, service contractors, PSCM, HSE and Production Operations.

 

The position is responsible for delivering and implementing engineering standardisation, quality assurance processes, well integrity compliance and development of local Iraqi engineering staff.

 

Additionally, the Engineering Manager will have to deliver on continuous improvement processes and have an ability to adapt engineering solutions to meet the continuing change to well service conditions identified in the annual operating and field depletion plans.

 

A calm and patient personality, with the ability work in a multi-cultural team environment, will be essential to succeed and have an impact in this challenging working environment.

 

 

Key accountabilities    

 

  • Lead by example as a senior team member with a strong commitment to HSE.
  • Single point accountability for setting the Well Integrity Management plan, target setting, tracking and development of engineering solutions to be delivered by the well service and workover delivery teams.
  • Manage the Well Services Engineering Team in provision of engineering solutions to well service and well integrity challenges.
  • Daily engineering and troubleshooting support to the Well Services delivery teams.
  • Implement the Rumaila Well Integrity Policy / Standard, Management System (WIMS).
  • Ensure and verify application of client and international standards (API, ISO).
  • Perform contractor oversight to ensure service providers are working to their own standards (SOPs).
  • Contribute to, quality check and endorse Well Services Programmes.
  • QA/QC of all pre-job technical calculations within Programmes.
  • Key participant in quarterly contractor performance reviews.
  • CAM for assigned contracts and assist in the development of resource plans.
  • Support technical training programs for engineers joining the client Wells team.
  • Training and mentoring of local and junior staff engineers.
 

 

Essential Education

  • BSc Engineering or equivalent
  • IWCF Well Control certificate or equivalent (i.e. IADC)
 

Essential experience and job requirements

 

  • Strong team player and mentor with demonstrated ability in a similar leadership role.  A proven ability to coach, train and mentor staff.
  • Proven ability to delivery in a fast paced, challenging environment.
  • Experience with Slickline, E-line and Coiled Tubing operations.
  • Experience of working with old wells and the unique challenges they bring to Well Integrity.
  • Experience working with a Well Integrity Management System (WIMS)
  • Detailed knowledge & experience of well integrity engineering & operations.
  • Ability to mine Well data history and understand the impact of the well history on future Well Services and Integrity activities on that well.
  • Software, Landmark Open Wells Reporting.
  • Log Interpretation, (e.g. Corrosion, Saturation, PLT, Free point indicator) 
  • Strong English language skills (Arabic and/or Chinese beneficial, but not a requirement)
  • Experience of managing third party contractors.
  • Aptitude to innovate and open to new ideas.
 

 

Desirable criteria and qualifications

  • Experience working in a Joint Venture environment.
  • Experience working in a remote location in a multicultural environment is preferred (preference for Middle East).
  • Preference for some experience in tendering & contracting.
