Senior Offshore Structural Engineer

Location: Houston, TX

Duration: 3+ year contract assignment

Rate: Competitive

Responsibilities:

Assist in the delivery of a cost effective and optimized design of the facilities (UFR, SPS, and Topside) that meets the requirement of the project in terms of safety, reliability, operability and maintainability for a 25 year design life.
Provide Structural engineering expertise and ensure consistency of design, execution planning and operational aspects
Manage interfaces between disciplines including SPS and URF packages
Guide work within the FPU and SPS Packages to ensure that schedule, technical, quality and HSES requirements are met or exceeded.
Engage package managers, operations and engineering contractor to ensure clear scopes of work, functional requirements and performance criteria balancing needs of Operations and Maintenance with available project budget.
Provide reporting function towards Engineering Manager and FPU Hull Lead Engineer for all work activities within area of responsibility, bring to earliest attention of FPU Hull Lead Engineer issues which present a significant threat to the Package and offer mitigating measures / work plans
Ensure that construction of the offshore plant complies with detailed engineering, schedule, and safety practices
Provide prompt response to site queries and unexpected technical problems
Assist project in all structural matters
Verify proper structural design of all lifting appliances
Supervise weight control of the FPU
Manage the Structural Engineering activities during the Project FEED and Detailed Engineering

Main Interfaces:

External - Engineering contractors
Internal (Project) - Field Operations, Package managers (SPS, UFR, FPU), Project Engineers
Internal (Company) - Technical entities from headquarters

Requirements:

M.S. in Structural Engineering
10+ years of experience working for consulting engineers or Oil & Gas exploration/production companies
Texas PE Registration is preferred
Specialization: Deck, Hull and Foundation structural design for floating platform
Firsthand knowledge of safe working practices on offshore construction projects
Firsthand knowledge of GOM Deep Water Developments
Excellent organizational skills and commitment to meeting deadlines
Problem solving skills for complex and integrated processes
