Description
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Our client has an exciting leadership opportunity for a role located at Muskrat Falls, which will provide oversight to the operation and maintenance of the Muskrat Falls Generating facility, water control structure, reservoir monitoring systems and civil installations (including dams). The role will also support the operation and maintenance of the related transmission infrastructure at Muskrat Falls.
In this role where you safely lead the operations and maintenance teams at Muskrat Falls, you will be responsible for ensuring that equipment is maintained and operated in a responsible and efficient manner. You will monitor effectiveness of the maintenance program and equipment, and you will ensure reliability issues are investigated and that necessary corrective actions are implemented. In concert with other team members you will ensure the annual maintenance plan is developed and executed including all Capital and Operating Project activities. You will also be responsible for all budgeting activities related to the appropriate business unit, and the execution of work to those budgets.
You will be responsible for assisting the Engineering and Asset Managers in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive long-term maintenance strategy for the facility. You will coordinate maintenance activities with Newfoundland & Labrador Hydro and CF(L)Co, as required, for various system operations.
You will facilitate the Corporate Safety & Health Program by supporting management’s commitment to the Corporate Safety & Health Program, ensuring that safety objectives established for the department are accomplished and that all work and materials meet or exceed legislative requirements, as well as implementing and monitoring a strong safety culture.
Requirements
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- You are required to be resident of Labrador
- You have graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and are, or eligible to be, a registered member of the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists association of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL). You have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in an electric utility, preferably a large hydro plant environment, or 12 years in a technical position within a large hydro plant environment. A combination of education and experience displaying progressive leadership ability may be considered. You have good communication skills, a strong work ethic, and you have the ability to lead and coach front-line supervisors and technical personnel. You must possess a valid driver license.
