Manage the field based construction team.

Work closely with and provide leadership and direction to the field based construction teams and associated contractors on site as required.

Ensure the field based team conform to Glencore's code of conduct and HSE policies.

Provide construction focal point for the interface with operations, maintenance, HSE, SR's and all other departments' onsite.

Work closely with operations and production to manage OPEX project scopes of work from concept to completion as required.

Work closely with the project manager(s) to ensure construction plans are in place and are aligned with the overall execution plan, ? Ensure adequate resources are in place to support the overall project plan and monitor this with project services and contractors on a weekly basis.

Attend operability and constructability reviews as required.

Promote and drive the involvement of construction in areas of technical design, schedule, preliminary execution planning, and cost estimating. ? Provide process and management support to the construction teams as required.

Ensure delivery of project work scopes in accordance with the project execution plan.

Development and management of the contractual documentation required to facilitate construction works onsite through existing contractors or service providers be this through work orders, site instructions, contract change requests or purchase orders.

Drive consistency across the various operating centers with respect to project execution plans, project execution protocols (RFIs, DCC, etc.…) and ensure consistency with respect to construction and engineering standards.

Provide facilities construction updates to the senior management team on a weekly basis. ? Evaluation of sub-contractor capabilities and assisting as applicable in the evaluation of contractor proposals and bids.

Ensure quality assurance system is covered in work execution.

Develop or validate construction estimates for new implementation work scopes

Work closely with Project Service's to accurately monitor, validate and report construction progress (physical).

Provide technical support to operations during the construction and commissioning phases to assist with the technical handover of the facilities and related equipment.

Understand the authority and approvals levels delegated within the project (both technical and financial) and ensuring awareness within the field based team.

Understand the construction cost estimates (budget) and contracts signed for the project.

Validate all work orders prior to AFE owner approval. Approve field construction cost estimates prior to AFE approval.

Attend Construction management progress and planning meetings

Demonstrate commitment to excellent HSE performance in all aspects of the work.
Essential Abilities
This position requires superior leadership, communication, organizational and management skills to lead and direct others to achieve project goals.
The successful candidate holds professional accreditation with a registered Engineering association

Formal project management training would be considered an asset

Demonstrated past experience managing construction teams and construction projects

Demonstrated past experience managing Brownfield Projects

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English ? Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Minimum 10 years oil and gas experience

Broad experience with sweet and sour gas/oil processing facilities and pipelines

Proficient with MS Office and project management software

Cultural awareness and the ability to work with individuals from different nationalities
Minimum Qualifications Potential candidates interested in the Construction Managers position MUST meet the following requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent education and experience

Experience in working in Africa (preferable)

Fluent written and spoken English

Relevant work experience in Oil and Gas Upstream Industry
