Fireproofing Refractory Specialist - (1800002B)
The successful incumbent will ensure that the Refractory/Fireproofing related contractor employees perform work in accordance with the Company Standards and works are performed to the highest quality in accordance with the specification and manufacturer's instructions.
Key Accountabilities:
* Carry out regular on-site inspection to ensure that the Refractory related works are carried out in accordance with Company's Standards & Material Application Procedures in a safe and reliable manner
* Inspect Refractory and Insulation materials supplied on - site by the contractor to ensure that the quantity is adequate, it is of proved design feature quality, and it is suitably conditioned and stored to give the intended service life
* Estimate manpower & materials for refractory works a requested by relevant internal departments and liaise with the contractor to ensure resources are available for the job
* Assist Shutdown Engineers & Planners to plan/schedule refractory and support resources from other trades for the T&I's as to ensure that tasks are undertaken safely and executed on time to the prescribed standard
* Coordinate the flow of required technical information for specialized works (Gouda/Resco materials application) to the Refractory contractor in a timely and sufficient manner to enable the Refractory contractor to produce a quality refractory mix in an efficient and productive manner without undue delay
* Monitor the Quality Control activities of the refractory installation works to ensure that refractory is installed efficiently and to standards that meet or exceed the requirements of the project, as well as review and keep refractory documents up - to - date
* Verify/audit that the contractor masonry tools and equipment is duly inspected - ensure all used tools and equipment are safe, adequate and properly maintained
* Encourage and promote safe work practices throughout the site and engage in HSE communications with all levels of the Refractory contractor's team, including safety observations, safety audits and meetings
* Establish Trade Test criteria for assessing Refractory/Fireproofing skills of contractor's manpower to select qualified/skilled manpower
* Plan, organize, verify and conduct trade test for contractor refractory manpower
* Administer and update Trade Testing database in the Qualifications Registration System and Trade Test Documents for Company's internal and/or external audits
Qualifications
* Degree in Civil/Ceramic Engineering or an equivalent engineering qualification
* Detailed knowledge in the use of Refractory & Insulation products including Refractory Bricks, Insulation, Mineral/Ceramic Fibre and Castables
* Sound knowledge of HSE and QA/QC requirements related to Refractory works within the Oil Refining and Petrochemical Industries
* Minimum of 10 years' experience in the petroleum industry, construction and maintenance work, including a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory position relating to maintenance work in oil/chemical processing plants
* Proficient in reading, understanding, developing and writing technical reports and procedures
* Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and materials specifications
* Good English communications skills and knowledge of computer applications
* Certified API 936 Refractory Professional or qualified by an international/equivalent reputable Refractory Institute/Body
* Preferably a member of an International Refractory Professional Institute or Board
