Key Features of the Role: Provide design and engineering expertise for the refurbishment, upgrade or new construction of new facilities and assist in the development of proposals necessary for senior management approval of project concepts. Lead the Engineering Projects Team in the formulation of conceptual design, scopes of work, realistic estimates of cost and project scheduling based upon the User Requirements Documents. These will be packaged and presented for the consideration and prioritisation of Senior Management. Manage the pre-contract development of Statements of Works (SOWs), allied drawing and details in the preparation of a document package that can be issued for bidding by contractors and agencies to present a request for proposal or request for quotation. You will work with selected Consultants to develop more complex projects. This will include the review of Statements of Work and design drawings and relevant specifications in the preparation of a complete bid package. You will work with others to facilitate pre-bid conferences and job walks to ensure that prospective bidders have the best possible knowledge of the project requirements and you will also be responsible for the answering of bidders queries throughout the bid process.
Knowledge and Skills: You will be an accomplished Construction Designer ideally with a Degree / Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline or hold relevant trade qualifications from a recognised trade, training college / school or university or a Construction Management Professional registration. A good working knowledge of AutoCAD and ideally possess a robust understanding of US Corps of Engineers Construction Regulations or an equivalent standard. Experience in Quantity Surveying is required, including the use of Theodolites, Total Station and Levelling and be fully familiar with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations. (CDM ). You should ideally have design experience in completing design reports, design layouts, specifications and detailed construction drawings. You must be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in the areas of safety, workforce management, project execution, cost control, quality and administration. Experience of working in a military environment or similar organisations would be ideal, as would experience of working in remote sites or in other arduous environments. Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be interfacing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions. A working knowledge of Arabic is desirable. You should be PC / IT literate including Microsoft Project with good PC skills able to produce charts and graphs etc. Finally, you should possess a drivers licence.
Whats on Offer? Salary will be around £79,000 pa. The salary is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
