Geomatics & GIS Surveyor / Qatar

Responsible for the safe, efficient and timely delivery of survey and construction activities in accordance with the company specifications, procedures, processes, systems, budgets, confidentially and applicable Qatari Laws.Responsible for the technical assurance of all final topographic/hydrographic products (reports /associated deliverables) plus the efficient retrieval thereof.

About this role:

Ensure & promote the application of HSE and Safety Engineering rules and specifications.Promote safety culture within the Geomatics department and ensure Contractors comply at all times with safety rules.Pursue within the Geomatics department the HSE objectives defined by the line management.Develop staff safety awareness by anomalies reporting plus attendance at HSE events.Ensure the successful planning, execution, monitoring, and close out of Geomatics projects. To include the management of scope, stakeholders, time, resources, communication, cost, integration, risk, quality and procurement.Responsible for rig move and general positioning scopes of work, procedures and consultant selection.Act as focal point and knowledge base for all topographic/hydrographic survey operations.Communicate, cooperate and collaborate with internal stakeholders, partners and contractors as required.Evaluate internal customers’ requirements and provide the optimum solution to support their objectives.Manage the provision of Offshore Site Representatives for survey operations.Supervise the preparation and delivery of all project related cartographic products.Ensure Contractor’s QHS&E Management Systems are implemented including reporting requirements.Undertake spot audits of topographic/hydrographic operations. Champion Company HSE expectations and make timely reports of all incidents.QA/QC of the survey contractor’s deliverables and provide feedback.Report to the Geomatics Lead with particular attention to decisions impacting all GEOM activities.Maintain an awareness of new technologies and working methods in the field of Geomatics.Source, load, convert, manage and ensure the timely delivery of new GIS data accounting for QC & ownership/confidentiality procedures and metadata updates.Create, publish & administer web services using ArcGIS Server. Share content using Portal for ArcGIS – ensuring all metadata is complete.Provide support, resource and expertise to the Emergency Management and Oil Spill response teams.

What you need to bring:

Education: BSc in Survey Sciences or equivalent. MSc in Geomatics or related degree preferred.Professional experience: Minimum of 10 year’s Offshore E&P experience of construction and seismic projects with 3 years as an offshore Site Representative or Project Manager.Knowledge of QHS&E Management Systems essential. Basic user of a variety of drafting and visualization applications including but not limited to AutoCAD, Fledermaus and Surfer.Project management skills: PMI or PRINCE preferred. GIS competencies: Administration of ArcGIS Desktop/Server/Enterprise, SDE, Python, web mapping management, with demonstrable understanding of geodesy, topographic, hydrographic and offshore construction methodologies and the associated geospatial data deliverables.Behavioral competencies: Strong communication and collaborative skills. Proactive logical mindset. Takes initiatives and makes decisions.Other competencies: Proficient in written and spoken technical English.
