Location Algeria Department/Section Methods Position Mechanical Engineer – Shutdown Co-ordinator Reports to Chef Service Méthodes Work Schedule 28/28 Job Description/Major Duties (general job functions, responsibilities, day-to-day tasks & activities)
- Manage shutdown (SD) preparations for execution including materials and spare parts identification and ordering, the identification of manpower requirements and the mobilization of contractor personnel and equipment;
- Develop and recommend overall SD strategy and coordinate the preparation of the ‘Fully Integrated SD Schedule’ both for long-term planning and preparation, and efficient execution;
- Direct and monitor each department’s progress on shutdown activity preparation and planning. Mentor supervisors and personnel to develop leadership skills and experience within SD planning and execution activities;
- Organize and chair regular department and inter-departmental meetings with all Company stakeholders to ensure focus on SD goals;
- Identify resourcing requirements for SD execution;
- Administer SD-related contracts and/or coordinate with other contract holders to execute the work;
- Direct and monitor SD-related departmental plans and schedules;
- Direct and monitor SD-related material procurement and delivery in cooperation with GB procurement;
- Ensure all activity Work Packs are developed in accordance with internal guidelines, reviewed and agreed.
- Ensure SD Risk Assessments are performed for all activities as required;
- Coordinate and drive the mobilization and availability of all SD-related labor, plant, equipment and logistics resources to deliver shutdown on-time and to budget.
- Manage the shutdown activities in accordance with GB shutdown strategy;
- Ensure Permit to Work and Isolation procedures are adhered to and good HSE practices are being applied;
- Ensure that SD execution progress is reported daily and drive actions required to ensure plan meets schedule;
- Conduct Lessons Learned meetings with other GB departments and approved contractors after completion of shutdowns. Ensure that Lessons Learned are applied in preparation for future shutdowns.
- Mechanical Engineering qualification – need not be degree level.
- At least 10 years experience in oil & gas processing facilities; planning for and managing shutdowns and running upgrade projects – may also have commissioning experience.
- Experience with modern Planning software, preferably Primavera P6 is preferred
- English language skills are required – French and/or Arabic in addition would be advantageous
