A fast-growing EPCM company to the Oil & Gas industry, has a permanent opportunity for a Chief Operating Officer to be based in Midland, TX.

Position Summary
 
Our client is seeking a dynamic professional to join their team as the Chief Operating Officer (COO). This leadership role will play a pivotal part in overseeing and optimizing the company's operations, ensuring efficient project management, and contributing to the strategic growth of the company. You will have the unique opportunity to join a team of senior leaders with backgrounds from major owner operators and take the best-in-class technical expertise to provide exceptional full turn-key services to the Oil & Gas industry.
 
In this position, you will work closely with the Owners to develop the operational strategy in line with the company strategy, manage the operations of the upstream EPCM activities of the company, manage all core technical departments, and drive the planned growth of the company. Being hands-on, you will be required to review the strategy and planning, operations, and people management while holding safety and company values in the highest regard.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Operational Leadership:
 
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to all operational functions within the company.
  • Oversee design, construction, and maintenance activities ensuring high-quality and cost-effective services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrate leadership across the entire company, sets goals and priorities for each department while unifying every department under one common shared vision.
  • Ensure all departments are fully informed of operational objectives.
  • Set operational and performance goals to ensure progress is being made.
  • Establish and monitor performance reporting systems.
 
Financial Leadership:
 
  • Oversee and manage the financial operations of the business, with experience managing a minimum P&L of $250MM.
  • Coordinate with the Accounting & Finance team on financial performance of company's operations including the current projects and future growth opportunities.
  • Provide strategic direction on profitability, cost management, and revenue enhancement.
  • Mitigate financial risks and identify opportunities to optimize financial performance.
 
Project Management:
 
  • Liaise with project management team to ensure successful project execution and client satisfaction.
  • Monitor and manage resource loading activities to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Implement best practices in project management to achieve project milestones on time and within budget.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in project delivery.
  • Ability and openness to travel to the field and roll up sleeves when needed.
 
Strategic Planning:
 
  • Work closely with the executive team to contribute to the development and execution of the company’s strategic growth initiatives which include identifying sectors outside of O&G for diversification and expansion.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with our key suppliers, manufacturers, and contractors.
  • Lead and assist with future planning for company’s growth.
  • Identify opportunities for expansion and diversification in existing and new markets.
 
Team Development:
 
  • Build relationships with company departments.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Interact well with all departments of the company, providing guidance when needed across HR, Accounting & Finance, Safety, and Engineering and operations.
  • Provide guidance and support to department heads.
  • Serve as a capable leader, understanding and embodying various leadership styles and holding others accountable.
  • Promote and inspire values associated with operational excellence, workplace safety, environmental best practices and exemplary business ethics, integrity, and entrepreneurship.
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required.
  • Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) is a plus.
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within the Oil & Gas industry with a minimum of 15 years industry experience, 5 of which should be in a managerial role.
  • Employment history working for a major or large owner operator is preferred.
  • Familiarity with O&G operations in the Permian Basin or other shale play areas is required.
  • Strong operational and project management background with a track record of successful project delivery.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and lead teams towards achieving organizational goals.
  • Strategic thinker with the capability to contribute to the development and execution of growth strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Travel – ability to travel 10-15% of the time to field activities and client meetings.
 
Location:
This position is based in Midland, TX, at the heart of the company’s operations.
