The highly valued Oil and Gas Client is seeking to add an intermediate Document Control Specialist to their team! This is a long-term contract based out of Calgary, AB with relocation during the duration of the assignment to Burnaby/Vancouver, BC. The Document Control Specialist is a project controls position working to support successful delivery of the Client's Strategic Projects. The role will be responsible for the management of documentation (technical/nontechnical) to ensure accuracy of records and timely review of documentation as appropriate. The role will initially be based in Calgary at the EPCM contractor’s office supporting engineering, design, procurement and vendor data. At a suitable time, the role may transfer to Burnaby for construction, commissioning and start-up.

The Document Control Specialist is a project controls position working to support successful delivery of the Client's Strategic Projects. The role will be responsible for the management of documentation (technical/nontechnical) to ensure accuracy of records and timely review of documentation as appropriate. The role will initially be based in Calgary at the EPCM contractor’s office supporting engineering, design, procurement and vendor data. At a suitable time, the role may transfer to Burnaby for construction, commissioning and start-up.
Duties:
- Maintain comprehensive Master Document Registers (MDR) as per requirements for the various projects ensuring all metadata and attributes are captured
- Manage and maintain all controlled documents for the business and specific to the Strategic Projects
- Support the Client's Strategic projects team with the classification and filing of documentation
- Check and edit incoming documentation and coordinate distribution and reviews within the team. Maintain and update document management system with final revisions after the internal review and approval
- Tracking transmissions with Contractors ensuring compliance to agreed processes
- Work with the EPCM contractor to ensure effective filing system is in place to support the activities
- Report on documentation reviews status and follow up with team members to ensure these are completed on time
- Ensure proper organisation or grouping of documents with the relevant security in place
- Develop appropriate Document control procedures including nomenclature conventions for the Projects
- Perform document control awareness sessions with the team members to ensure compliance
- Perform document control checks and quality control of all documentation to ensure compliance
- Perform constant analysis of produced documentation to check for compliance with Project standards regarding numbering, graphics, used symbols and all others aspect related to document quality
- 5+ experience in Documentation management preferably in the Oil and Gas Industry
- Experience with the use of documentation management systems/softwares
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office tools
- Prior Major Capital Project experience through design, construction, and commissioning
- Strong self-starter who can work without close supervision
- Eligible to live and work in Canada
