US Turnaround Project Controls Lead, Global Turnarounds
The GE&T Turnaround Project Controls Lead is responsible for leading development of turnaround cost estimates and forecasting costs from initiation to completion. The position will support turnarounds at sites in the United States, as well as specific initiatives for business studies or system / process development.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
• Support major turnarounds in the United States as a Project Controls Lead. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
o Develop the Total Installed Cost (TIC) estimate and
the control budget at execution
o Develop transfer estimates for capital project work
executed in the turnaround and interface with Project
organizations
o Prepare funding requests
o Maintain WBS in SAP Project Systems and EcoSys
o Review contractor’s estimates for completeness and
reasonable basis for the work scope
o Lead the Turnaround team to develop internal cost
estimates that support the overall project cost basis
o Oversee team of Cost Analysts reviewing contracts,
time sheets, invoices and payments
o Interface with Manufacturing Accounting during
audits
o Forecast and report cost and schedule metrics
including changes and trend variances
o Establish and maintain common methods and
standards of reporting format for reports to senior
leadership
o Develop tools, matrices and format for tracking,
trending, forecasting and archiving of cost/schedule
information
o Develop project controls work processes and train
project team members in project controls function
• Maintain a field presence during execution and take
a leadership role in safety processes
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or Equivalency required,
Engineering, Construction Management, or Business
degree preferred
• 8 – 12 years of construction, maintenance, or
project management industry experience with at least
5 years of project controls experience in the
petrochemical, chemical or refining industries
• SAP experience is required
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Self-motivated and able to achieve results through
teamwork and influence
• Strong written and verbal communication, coaching,
and analytical skills
• Willingness and ability to travel for extended periods
of time as determined by project assignments.
Willingness and ability to work turnaround schedules
such as 7 days per week and 12 hours per day
throughout the duration of turnaround execution.
• On-site support for turnarounds and executions at
locations outside of the Houston area includes
Corpus Christi Texas, Iowa and Illinois
and may require extensive travel at times. During
these assignments, the travel requirement may be as
much as 50%.
