This EPC company based in Brisbane is now looking for a new addition to their family. As the Project Manager / Estimator, you will work closely with the Business Development team to connect with the industry networks and build the business by bidding and winning new projects - both large and small, and providing expertise to the project by seeing it through to completion.
You will be providing subject matter expert advice and technical solutions including estimates, cost planning, budgets and estimating assurance for all competitive tenders and new projects, including:

You will be providing subject matter expert advice and technical solutions including estimates, cost planning, budgets and estimating assurance for all competitive tenders and new projects, including:
- Respond to RFQ’s and Tender requests by liaising with customer and internal key stakeholders
- Lead and manage tender meetings, Conduct site inspections (as required) and support contract negotiations
- Understand and coordinate cost risk management
- Identify labour, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, contract documents, drawings, specifications, and related documents.
- Ensure quality, safety and environmental requirements are accommodated in tender submissions
- Understand/undertake scheduling, engineering, procurement and construction activities
- Advise project managers on budget, contractual requirements and resources
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors, prepare appropriate pricing packages and inquire, dissect and evaluate subcontract bids
- Improve Estimation System and processes by developing and implementing estimating tools and protocols across the business
- Support the continuous improvement of the estimating processes
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications
- Understand and implement quality control techniques
To be successful in the role you will have the following qualities:
- Tertiary Qualification in Engineering or Quantity Surveying or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Oil and Gas in a similar or related position
- Proven experience in providing a diverse range of estimating and cost control services, preferably for pipeline, mechanical and civil works projects
- Fluency in estimating, technical writing, acquiring collating and assessing subcontract tender prices
- Comprehensive skills in Estimating Software, MS Project / Primavera P6 and MS Office software
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong, ongoing stakeholder relationships
- Proven planning, problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work through issues with high complexity.
- Demonstrate ability to work a part of a service orientated team in alignment with GEC’s values and vision
- Demonstrated ability to work with tight timeframes while remaining adaptive to change
- Project Engineering and Project Management experience highly regarded
