Contract: Process Operator - Turnaround Support / Canada

Position Description - Purpose:

The role of the Process Operator (contractor) will fulfill responsibilities which may include 3 operations functions. The determination of which functions will be supported will be based on business need, incumbent experience and qualifications. The operational functions may include:

• Projects operations field lead.
• Production Team Member (PTM), responsible in operating one of the process unit positions.

Responsibilities:

Projects Operations Field Lead:

• The Projects Operator will ensure safe and efficient field execution through the delivery of Safe Work Permits that meet all requirements of Scotford Safe Work Practices. This includes operations support in field execution of unit capital projects for designated areas.
• Additional to permit writing; the operator will be required to execute procedures, equipment isolations.
• Assist in resolving field coordination/ constructability issues with construction, maintenance, safety and security.
• Communicate with Production Team Members that are operating the unit during Project execution, ensuring project work that could cause changing conditions to the process the personal safety of the workforce is identified and mitigated.
• Communicate construction/field activities to area Production Team Members and support staff.
• Work with operations and other project construction personnel during pre-commissioning and commissioning of piping, rotating equipment and electrical.
• Ensure all required training of the Production Team Members is completed prior to any go-live dates.
• Support the training of PTM's by being a resource for Projects being constructed in the Production Units. Be available to support PTM walkdowns and training of new equipment.

Production Team Member (PTM):

• Based on incumbent experience and qualification there will be opportunity to signoff and assume responsibility in an operating post in the Refinery to operate the unit in a run and maintain function to support the production unit (PU) operations staffing under the direction of the Production Team Lead (PTL).
• The PTM will ensure safe and efficient operation of the process unit in their designated area, through the delivery of Ensure Safe Production (ESP) fundamentals and all Scotford Safe Work Practices.
• Support maintenance activities which includes equipment prep, field walk downs, permitting, commissioning and startup.
• Responsible to participate in operation meetings and support shift logging as defined in ESP.

Dimensions:

• Administratively reports to the Refinery Production Supervisor.
• Functionally reports to: Operations Readiness Coordinator if in Projects function, PTL if in Production Team Member function, and TA PS if in TA operator function.
• Work schedule to be determined based on role. Current and typical Scotford schedules are as follows: 4x10.5 in Project function, 12hr shift pattern if in process unit operator function, and 12hr 6 and 1 or 4x 10.5 if in TA operator function depending on TA phase.
• Extra hours may be required based on workload and business need.
