Are you looking to work for one of the world’s leading Oil and Gas Operators? Do you have experience working on large Global Oil and Gas projects in Africa? Are you a Technical Safety Engineer looking for a new challenge?
NES are currently looking for a Lead Technical Safety Engineer for one of our clients, a Global Operator based in Paris.
Role Requirements
• To guide all personnel involved in safety issues for all packages of the project
• To timely review and where applicable approve all safety engineering-related Contractors’ documents such as calculation notes, plot plans/layouts, safety logic control and specifications.
• To supervise and contribute to all safety studies while ensuring that they are planned and executed at the appropriate time, and that the methodology and procedures for these studies are produced and approved prior to their commencement.
• To supervise and contribute to Risk Assessments, in particular the TRA as per GS EP SAF 041.
• To participate in safety reviews such as HAZID, HAZOP, HIPPS Committee, TRA workshops, etc…
• To monitor and verify the close-out of all safety-related action items from the various safety reviews.
• To liaise and regularly communicate with HSE Headquarters;
• To follow up and prepare answers in due time to the deviations requests issued by Contractors and to prepare and obtain approval of derogations requests from Headquarters
• To be responsible of the HIPPS: to supervise the issuance of the HIPPS Dossiers, to organize in due time the HIPPS Committee, ensure proper implementation of the resulting actions and hand over the HIPPS Dossiers to Operations Team;
• To provide support in his field of expertise to other engineering disciplines; to procurement Team for the supervision of the procurement, inspection and tests during the fabrication activities and to Operations Team for the preparation of the operating procedures;
• To conduct studies leading to technical decision making and recommendation to project management;
• To coordinate with the Affiliate HSE Team on safety-related subjects;
• To provide reporting in his discipline, highlighting critical issues to the Engineering Manager and proposing remedial actions
Main accountabilities:
• Support the Engineering Manager during the detailed engineering phase
• Ensure that all necessary safety studies, reports and audits are undertaken and, where applicable, their recommendations implemented,
• Ensure that all requirements and relevant international standards are adhered to;
• To adopt and demonstrate an exemplary behaviour with regards to the HSSSE requirements
Qualifications/Experience required
The Service Provider must have the following qualifications:
• Master degree, safety engineer with minimum 15 years experience in the Oil and Gas Industry
• Previous experience on multinational project in detail engineering phase (on onshore project is a plus)
• Proven experience in Technological Risk Assessment
• Good knowledge of international safety legislation, codes and standards
• Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
