The client, a large Oil and Gas Pipeline Company, is seeking a Hydrographic Survey Technician in Saudi Arabia. This will be a 1 year contract role starting ASAP with possibility of extension. 

The Hydrographic Survey Technician will work in conjunction with a Team Lead and suppliers in various facilities including several laboratories such as Chemistry, Metallurgical, Welding, Non-destructive testing facilities, Electrical testing (failure testing and smart grid), Calibration laboratory and Performance testing. This position will perform bathymetric, hydrographic, and depths of utility projects, and maintain field equipment and survey vessels.
 
Duties and Responsibilities include,  but are not limited to:

  • Operate bathymetric equipment including multi beam echo sounders, single beam echo sounders, side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, GPS survey instruments, utility locating equipment, and small boats
  • Make precise bathymetric and depth of utility measurements using conventional and state of the art surveying instruments
  • Make and interpret survey calculations
  • Research, analyze, check, and adjust bathymetric and depth of utility survey data
  • Operate small survey vessels
  • Prepare CADD drawings and maps from field data, field notes, and office data
  • Prepare plan and profile CADD drawings, depth contours, or other special drawings
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical computations and be able to check calculations of others.
  • Other Duties as assigned

Requirements :

  • 10 years + Field experience.
  • Experience with Trimble Business Center, AutoCad Civil 3D, GIS, or Bentley InRoads/Microstation, HYPACK or other bathymetric surveying software preferred.
  • Experience with Trimble Data Collectors and Access, survey grade GPS systems and depth of utility survey equipment preferred.

Education:
  • Associate Degree in Hydrographic Science, or related field required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hydrographic Science, or related field preferred.
