Contract: Measurement Technician – Maintenance Support / Canada

The client, a major oil and gas producer, is seeking a Measurement Technician – Maintenance Support, located in Lloydminster, SK for a 1 year contract.  This is an office position with occasional site visits to Operational facilities.  The shift is Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day.

 

This position is responsible for supporting the Cold and Thermal Maintenance teams with measurement related programs and initiatives to ensure the business meets Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) and Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy & Resources (ER) measurement regulatory requirements.

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Represent the Cold and Thermal Maintenance teams in the development and implementation of the Corporate Next Gen FDC project; specifically, the IDMS (Integrated Data Management Solution) software used for measurement device maintenance and sample/analysis management.

 

• Understand the IDMS software and how it can work with the business.
• Cold & Thermal Maintenance representative on Next Gen FDC project team Task Force.

o Act as a link between the Project team and Maintenance teams.

• Relay messages to Maintenance teams and concerns to Project team as necessary to ensure successful product deployment.
• Provide measurement technical support to Maintenance teams during implementation.

o Deliver follow-up training and guidance to supplement formal rollout training as needed.

o Ensure software e-forms align with business requirements.

• Offer ongoing measurement technical support to Maintenance teams following implementation.

o Guide measurement device calibration/proving frequency changes with area E&I Leads.

o Drive any necessary reviews and modifications to calibration e-forms within the software.

 

Maintenance Process Development/Refinement – EPAP (Cold & Thermal):

• Support the development and refinement of Maintenance processes to align with the needs of the EPAP (Enhanced Production Audit Program).
• Ensure maintenance processes are in place and functioning for the following:
• Preventative Maintenance (PM) equipment vetting (for each Cold & Thermal).
• PM task list review cycle process and content (Cold).
• Initial measurement system verification or proving when new devices are installed (Cold & Thermal).
• Corporate calibration/proving e-form review and updates (once IDMS software is implemented).
• Witnessing process to ensure 3rd party vendors are meeting Husky and regulatory expectations (including necessary checklists).
• Assist with rollout of measurement device installation checklists where new devices are installed by Maintenance personnel.
• Help deliver expectations and training to the Maintenance teams on all above processes.

 

General Maintenance Support (Cold):

• Support the Cold Maintenance team in identifying measurement accounting devices and applying appropriate calibration/proving frequencies to Preventative Maintenance plans to ensure regulatory requirements are being met.
• Provide directives 017/PNG017 mentorship to Maintenance E&I Leads.
• Develop and maintain accounting meter lists for Cold Cleaning Plants which align with site measurement schematics.
• Progress plans to ensure all truck unload meter skids have appropriate calibration and proving plans in place (meters and water cut analyzers) and that proving reports are available to Cold Maintenance personnel.
• Conduct witnessing of 3rd party meter proving and calibration operations to ensure alignment with the organization and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with equipment level data collection to support regulatory requests and take appropriate action with Maintenance teams to address any identified gaps.

 

Annual EPAP Evaluation Data Collection (Cold & Thermal):

• Supports the annual EPAP evaluation by ensuring the data request is fulfilled for Maintenance focused activities.
• Complete all EPAP evaluation data collection for Cold Maintenance.
• Supports Thermal Maintenance teams in ensuring data provided for EPAP evaluation aligns with request.

 

Must have qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years related industrial and instrument experience
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in the oil and gas industry
• Familiar with oil and gas facilities and equipment
• Electrical and instrumentation experience
• Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

 

Nice to have qualifications:

• Diploma in instrumentation technology or other relevant discipline
• Journeyman Instrumentation or equivalent discipline
• Strong working knowledge the provincial regulatory bodies and their requirements for production measurement
• Strong working knowledge with various forms of measurement systems, sample techniques and electronic flow measurement
• Familiarity with measurement schematics and production accounting principles
