Project Accountant

Summary:

• This position will provide Accounting and Job-costing support to Commercial & Project Managers for my clients construction projects. Duties include project specific accounting functions. Invoice reviews, financial reporting and documentation as required by the customer, researching and resolving cost anomalies and discrepancies, ensure proper supporting documentation for all project costs, monthly forecasting, and interface with corporate Finance & Accounting teams

Position is central to the project and critical to tackle challenging and complex accounting and business tasks. • 10-20% travel to project sites

Specific duties:

• Assist with project setup and development of cost reports, supporting the Commercial Manager and to promote effective interface with Finance & Accounting
• Develop Schedule of Values & Pay Application in conjunction with Commercial Manager
• Support project audits
• Analyze and report accounts receivable status and collection
• Ensure billing and reporting requirements are met by deadlines.
• Pay applications and billings audit and entry.
• Support the development of monthly project forecasts and financial reports
• Ensure prevailing wage is processed correctly with required reporting.
• Ensure all local requirements are followed and documented according to requirements.
• Review actuals - labor and costs, ensure proper understanding and allocation
• Job cost review and reclassification
• Support development and updates of cost tracking tools
• Administer sales tax processes pertinent to assigned projects
• Create and amend purchase orders, based on supporting documentation, cost analysis, and matching to budget
• Confirm progress and goods/services received
• Confirm and track lien waivers
• Review vendor and subcontractor invoices, match with commitments, check for accuracy, and code accordingly
• Compile monthly and annual accruals
• Assist team in process improvement
• Assist team in systems implementations and data integrity

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office - intermediate to advanced Excel skills
• Experience with ERP or Reporting Systems a plus.
• Detail-oriented.
• Prioritization and time management.
• Ability to manage under tight deadlines and handle multiple complex tasks in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Self-directed individual who works well with teams.

Qualifications:

• BS in Accounting/Finance, or Business-related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in project accounting, preferably supporting Capital EPC projects
• Experience working with Procurement, and Project Controls teams
• Construction and multi-state sales tax experience is a plus
• Current knowledge of GAAP Expertise in ERP systems and Excel
• Strong communication and team player skills
