Natural Gas Scheduler
Qualifications
- The Scheduler is responsible for developing, recommending, and implementing the end-to-end supply and logistics activity for natural gas
- The Scheduler is responsible for the natural gas movements, primarily via pipelines
- This position may also manage upstream or downstream natural gas storage portfolio
- Coordinates and communicates effectively with trading team, upstream assets, refineries, and third parties to forecast and plan in a fast- paced, dynamic environment
- Partners with trading team to identify and capture market opportunities
- Performs daily gas control and schedules the movement of natural gas via various pipeline systems
- Reacts promptly to pipeline restrictions, tolerance changes and/or other operation upsets and communicate with assets to ensure optimal remediation actions are taken in a timely manner
- Maintains supply reliability to upstream assets, refineries, and/or third parties.
- Develops and maintains good relationships with pipelines and other shippers
- Has a good understanding of optimization, logistics, market conditions, toll structures and contract terms
- Provides feedback on logistical capabilities and limitations of the company’s supply chain system in support of the development of long range integrated supply and distribution strategies
- Uses commercial judgment and problem solving skills to solve operational problems
- Supports growth initiatives related to upstream assets, refineries, pipeline and storage opportunities
- Ensures adherence to credit guidelines, regulatory and quality compliance, and transportation policies
- Serves as key interface between accounting and the business line ensuring third parties are paid accurately and timely
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business or related discipline
- 3-5 years’ experience in logistics or scheduling/coordinating natural gas supply especially in Alberta; 5+years a plus
- Experience with Pipelines or a Trade Floor is an asset
- Solid proficiency in use of MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Must possess strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
- Works well in teams; experience interacting with high volume internal and external customers
- Must possess strong organizational skills and be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment
- Must possess strong drive and motivation; strong continuous improvement mindset
- Able to work with diverse group of individuals; effectively manages external relationships
- Promotes productive impact across organizations; seeks value-added improvements in the supply chain
- Must be customer focused and have ability to build relationships
- Must be able and willing to respond to after-hours calls requiring scheduling actions
