Safety Officer
We are looking for an experienced Safety Officer to work on board a DP3 Pipe-Lay/ Construction vessel currently operating in Nigeria.
The Safety Officer will report directly to the Master (onboard safety management), Company Security Manager (Security) and HSEQ Manager (Safety).
• Job Title: Safety Officer
• Vessel Type: DP3 Pipe-Lay/ Construction
• Location: Nigeria
• Rotation: 6 WKS on/ 6 WKS off
• Mobilisation: 16 October 2019
• Day Rate: 270.00 USD
Experience Required
• Oversees preventative and remedial maintenance of all LSA and FFA equipment and systems.
• Oversees and monitors the effectiveness of onboard reporting of incidents, accident, near misses and non-conformances.
• Assists the onboard medic with the reporting of medical treatment injuries.
• Assists the Master with the continuous improvement of the TOL SBMS.
• Coordinates all safety activities with other safety stakeholders e.g. ensures permit to work used covers the requirements of client or dry-dock.
• The Safety Officer has full authority over all staff on safety, pollution, security and helicopter operations
• Understanding and compliance with international Rules, Regulations, Legislation, Codes, Standards and Specifications.
• Reports transmitted from the vessel represent activities that took place i.e. an increase in near miss reports may be an indication of a better culture of reporting.
• Successfully complete all internal and external audits, surveys and inspection regarding safety, ISM, SOLAS and MARPOL.
• Safe and efficient helicopter operations
• Compliance with the Ship Security Plan
We're looking for a candidate holding the following Certificates:
-BST / STCW's
-SSO / OPB Certificate
-STCW Medical
-BOSIET or FOET or HUET (HUET only with BST)
-Passport (2 empty pages)
-Seamans Book
-Yellow Fever (Preferred but not necessary if Mexican)
-HLO (Preferred but not necessary)
-OHERTL /HERTL (Preferred but not necessary)
-GAS Tester (Preferred but not necessary)
-Ships Safety Officer Certificate / Safety Certificate/ NEBOSH (Preferred but not necessary) If crew do not have a Safety Officer Certificate, they MUST have an Engineering / Deck Officer COC.
And the following personal qualities:
• Clear and effective oral and written communications skills in English language.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of principle discipline and peripheral subjects.
• Strong coordination, organisation and liaison skills with the ability to seek and gain consensus solutions to complex issues.
• Thorough understanding of ISM and ISPS Codes
