As the Procurement Department Manager you plan, direct and coordinate the operations of a department. You plan and maintain systems and procedures for operating efficiency. You manage staff for optimum performance. You supervise direct reporting staff according to overall company policy and set employee goals and objectives and develop staff to their maximum potential. You are responsible for the preservation of know how in the department and evaluate current business processes and systems. Furthermore, you establish and maintain functional relations with other entities and you represent as per rules and standards of our company.
General Tasks
Is aware and cares for Health, Safety & Environmental aspects during daily actions, and drives HSE performance throughout project and or internal/ external services activities. Plan, direct and coordinate the operations of a department. Plan and maintain systems and procedures for operating efficiency. Manage staff for optimum performance.
Specific Tasks
- Determine staffing requirements, hire and train new staff
- Supervise direct reporting staff according to overall company policy
- Set employee goals and objectives, develop staff to their maximum potential
- Monitor staff performance including performance reviews
- Monitor and assist staff with work progress and delegate work duties to staff
- Allocate use of available resources
- Monitor and assist staff with work progress
- Preserve of know how in the department
- Evaluate current business processes and systems
- Plan and implement procedures and tools to maximize operating efficiency
- Formulate department work instructions and practices and if required incorporate lessons learned
- Co-ordinate financial and budget activities for maximum operational efficiency
- Prepare and analysis of reports and report to Vice President Procurement and Construction and C&SU and PT Purchasing Manager as required.
- Motivate and stimulate staff and deals effectively with reluctance to change
- Monitor productivity, progress and quality on projects
- Responsible for the improvement of department productivity and quality goals
- Ensure that the latest state of our company technology is applied
- Join and support the monthly operational meetings
Education and experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Knowledge of business and management principles and practices
- Proficient in relevant software applications, specifically related to Procurement and ERP systems
- Knowledge of Procurement Chain in the Energy (Oil &Gas) industrial sector
Work experience
Minimal 15 years experience in an engineering company in a procurement (buyer) function.
