We are a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the oil & gas Industry. Our highly valued client, has an opportunity for a Maintenance Technician – Senior Automation for a 1 year contract in Lloydminster, Macklin or Kerrobert, Saskatchewan.
Overall Responsibility:
This position is responsible for identifying, evaluating, estimating and executing PLC and HMI programming tasks and ensuring corporate standards and procedures are being followed. This position will work closely with Facility Engineers and Production Operations staff.

Core Areas of Responsibility:
- Ensure shutdown key/truth table are created and maintained for all major facilities (batteries, gas plants, dewatering sites, injection facilities)
- Support design, implementation and commissioning of new facilities as required
- Support MOCs and small project programming changes (define scope, create proposal and options, prepare and test changes, implement approved changes)
- Support HAZOP reviews and Factory Acceptance Tests
- Assist with supervision of contractors and crews when required
- Evaluate all sites for critical spares; recommend opportunities to management for review
- Manage and track all critical spares on database
- Maintain current and up to date copies of all PLC programs on corporate network drive
- Ensure PLC/HMI/RTU tasks are executed as compliant to corporate programming and tagging standards
- Provide mentorship and training for EPCM’s, 3rd party contractors and maintenance personnel
- Ensure corporate standards and procedures are being followed for SCADA and Process Control
- Provide backup assistance for IT support and Network Radio Interruptions
- Ensure industry and corporate standards are followed and maintained on all installations
- Trouble shoot, problem solve and implement solutions for SCADA system issues
- Identify and implement SCADA systems in a cost efficient matter within assets to enhance production
- Provide informal day to day training and support for the use of tools and information available
- Support AOP process as required for further implementation of SCADA on exiting fields
- Provide input on SCADA and automation standards for grassroots facility design and future usage
- Perform installation and troubleshooting of equipment including programming of communication (radio equipment, callout equipment, protocol converters)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role within oil & gas industry
- Diploma in Instrumentation or Electrical Journeyman
- Experience with various control systems (DCS, PLC, RTU)
- Programming experience with Allen Bradley, SCADAPack, RSView
- Experience with control system design and architecture
- Experience with various HMI packages, PID loop control and valve tuning
- Ability to interpret PFD’s, PID’s and electrical panel drawings as required
- Strong background in SCADA communications, radio and fiber, as well as various communication protocols
- Proficient in Microsoft office suite of programs and various programming software
- Strong trouble shooting and problem solving ability
