We are a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the Oil, Gas and Chemicals Industry. Our client, a Leading Global Chemical Manufacturer, is seeking an E&I Planner Scheduler to support a high value, greenfield chemicals project for a permanent position to be based in New Orleans, LA area.

Position Overview:
 
The E&I Planner/Scheduler works under the direction of the Maintenance Superintendent, facilitating all electrical and instrumentation work process activities by monitoring maintenance backlogs and developing safe work job plans to improve workforce productivity, identify all required resource requirements including but not limited to required manpower, parts, and equipment.  This position requires working with vendors for RFQ, RFI, and issuing purchase requisitions.  In addition, responsibilities of the role will be to develop and issue daily and weekly work schedules and conduct the daily maintenance/operations schedule meetings.  The E&I Planner/Scheduler will be the liaison between maintenance, engineering, and operations to ensure all work activities are planned, estimated, and scheduled. This position will also provide leadership and guidance on effective operations of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS using Infor).
 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Evaluates and investigates all work requests and coordinates with the Maintenance Superintendent and contractors, if required, for resource requirements for proactive and reactive work
  • Develops all job plans in a detailed and professional manner to safely conduct work
  • Plans all maintenance work, estimates time and resources, and schedules all jobs
  • Manages maintenance scheduling process including weekly management meetings and maintenance team meetings
  • Ensures parts, materials, and tools are appropriately requisitioned to complete planned jobs
  • Collaborates across the organization with Maintenance, Engineering, HSE, and Operations to name a few in order to monitor the Maintenance Work Process (MWP) and identify root causes of problems and make corrections.
  • Tracks and reports on appropriate metrics and KPIs related to the MWP to monitor and improve maintenance performance and plant reliability
  • Assists with planning/scheduling effort for major plant turn-around and equipment overhauls
  • Maintains highest standards of safety and housekeeping according to established guidelines
  • Ensures compliance for all permitting, lockout/tagout, and PPE activities
  • Retains composure and good judgement under abnormal and emergency situations
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned (HAZOP, RCA, Incident reviews, etc.)
  • Leads by example in terms of behavior, championing COMPANY values and ensuring that all employees are treated with respect
  • Drives a positive on- shift work environment, motivating employees to high performance and quality work
  • Reviews process data and recognizes conditions that could lead to abnormal events
  • Actively engages operators to assist in identifying potential process problems, initiates troubleshooting activities and works through the problem until resolution is achieved.
  • Represents management in presenting a consistent, unified front to operators.
  • Builds productive, collaborative and mutually trusting relationships throughout the organization
  • Emphasizes quality work to self and others to meet established job standards and expectations
  • Maintains an open-door policy at all times and builds relationships with his/her team
  • Reports all safety, environmental and operational incidents in a timely manner using established documentation and reporting tools provided by COMPANY
  • Acts in a manner in accordance with COMPANY outlined safety policies, procedures and practices
  • In the performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to conform to the following:

Qualifications:
 
Education:
-High school diploma or equivalent required
-Associate’s degree in Industrial Technology preferred
Experience:
-8-10 years of experience as a Planner/Scheduler in the E&I field required
-Chemical Industry experience required
-Commissioning of a petrochemical facility preferred
Knowledge:
-Knowledge of standard CMMS planning & scheduling tools - INFOR specifically a plus
-Knowledge of fourteen (14) elements of PSM
-Knowledge of process equipment and methodologies used in production environments
-Knowledge and understanding of cause and effect relationships in the process
-Understands and observes the management systems of the organization, such as safety systems, work order systems, procedures, guidelines and human resources systems
-Knowledge of organizational goals and metrics
-Understands the necessity to elevate issues to gain support for addressing problems
-Ability to mentor and coach personnel on the MWP
-Knowledge and understanding of permitting, equipment isolation and PPE policies

Skills & Abilities:

-Proficiency in MS Office and standard operating systems required
-Proficiency in Primavera 6 and MS Project required
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence operators in a positive manner

 
- Candidate must have the ability to work in the US without ongoing sponsorship or visa
