STATUS

  • The Project has recently completed PreFEED design, including the development of the Early Project Design Basis, system hydraulics, critical design engineering & project design specs, preliminary PFD/UFDs & plot plans, and cost & schedule estimates. 
  • Engineering is expected to occur between July 2019 – January 2021.  Construction is expected to occur between April 2021 – November 2022.
EXPECTATIONS

  • The discipline engineer will be one of four discipline engineers overseen by a Lead Technical Engineer and a Project Manager.  The discipline engineer will also be required to coordinate with other functions within Company’s Project Team, including the Construction Leads, Quality Lead, and Project Controls personnel.
  • The discipline engineer will interact and oversee work performed by the Engineering contractor, equipment manufacturers, and Construction/Commissioning contractor.  During engineering, the discipline engineer will be based in the Engineering contractor’s office.
  • Because of the small project team, the discipline engineer must work closely with the Lead Technical Engineer to not only oversee the Engineering contractor, but to appropriately leverage and utilize the Engineering contractor’s skill and expertise to complete the work.  The project team must consist of inclusive, team-oriented personnel, be good communicators and collaborators, can manage broad spectrum work, and will deliver on their commitments.
  • Prior experience in discipline lead roles as well as exposure to onshore compressor stations will be prioritized.
MAIN FUNCTIONS

The Pipeline Machinery Engineer focuses on the development of the machinery discipline activities performed by the Engineering and Procurement (E&P) Contractor during the FEED and Detailed Design for the pipeline and compressor station scope of work, including equipment selection, design, installation, commissioning, and start- up planning.  The role includes the following functions:

  • Ensures that the Project's requirements are detailed in the Technical Specifications and ensures that the equipment and systems are engineered, designed, and purchased consistent with the Job Specification and Regulatory requirements
  • Provides engineering oversight of the Contractor and equipment supplier teams such that the work arrives within project budget and schedule
  • Works with the E&R Group to ensures compliance with all FERC permits/requirements
  • Facilitates interfaces among the Discipline Leads, the Contractor and the equipment supplier’s organizations with respect to equipment package issues.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsibilities shall include the following:
  • Responsible for equipment design for rotating equipment
  • Participate in technical specification preparation and Hazard and Operability Reviews (HAZOP)
  • Participate in packaged equipment related FAT's as required
  • Responsible for equipment and general arrangements for plot plan layout and design reviews
  • Provides input, guidance, and validation to the Noise Model
  • Ensures the contractor is adhering to the air emissions requirements for all fired equipment
  • Coordinates the review of all Contractor and equipment supplier deliverables and responsible for providing and coordinating Company comments for the discipline
  • Reviews the RFQ and PO for all discipline equipment to ensure compliance with the Job Specifications, contractual requirements, and all regulatory requirements
  • Stewards Material Handling reviews
  • Provide support to site construction and completions teams and to operations during startup
 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in engineering
  • 12+ years of closely related professional experience, 5+ years of which should be at the senior project engineering level, and experience carrying out detail design activities in a Contractor’s office
  • Strong leadership, influencing, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to read, write, and speak fluent English
Broad and extensive knowledge of:

  • Design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria
  • Industry best practices, processes, and expectations with respect to discipline engineering
