Business Analyst / Accountant / USA

The Business Analyst / Accountant is to provide accurate, insightful, timely, and efficient analysis and reporting of performance for operating costs. The position is responsible for cost accounting, monthly close process, expense budgeting, financial and statistical reporting and strategy development.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Preparing and entering accruals and transfer of charges/journal vouchers.
• Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations.
• Ensure all journal entries are made and assist in ledger maintenance.
• Ensure the timely and accurate accounting for refinery operating expenses.
• Work closely with corporate personnel and respond to queries as required.
• Resolving various billing issues (Purchase Orders, Payables, Work Orders).
• Monthly / Quarterly Operating Expense reporting.
• Operating Expense reconciliations versus Plan and prior periods.
• Analysis of Operating Expense trends and drivers.
• Assist in development and submission of the annual operating budget.
• Providing ad hoc stewardship analysis and reports as requested by Management.
• Executing controls requirements (independent verification, when required).
• Providing guidance accounting practices and controls.
• Calculating various allocations to cost centers / business units / lines of business.
• Assists in other accounting projects and research as directed.

Job Qualifications:

• B.S. (or higher) Degree in Accounting required
• 7-10 years of experience in accounting; Oil or Chemical industry preferred
• SAP experience required
• Must be proficient in Excel and Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Possess effective communication skills both verbal and written.
• Working knowledge of accounting theory and principles (GAAP)
• Strong analytical and accounting and math skills and organizational skills
• Meet deadlines and adjust to multiple work demands
