Inspector ( Pressure vessels)

Job Description

  • Minimum 10 years within the petrochemical industry with at least 5 years spent inspecting new build and in-line pressure vessels. 5 Years post qualification experience in NDT techniques.
  • Specifics: Refining & treatment plant operations
  • Shutdown (TAR) campaigns
  • Supervision of NDT and inspection crews during TAR outages.
  • Oil & Gas pipeline fabrication and operation
  • Plant services and support
  • PSV operation and inspection in accordance with API guidelines
  • New build & in-line inspection of pressure containment vessels
  • Corrosion monitoring of on-line pipelines
  • Welding Inspection and acceptance
  • Working with Written Schemes of Examination (WSE)
  • The implementation of Risk Based Inspection (RBI) systems

Personal Specification

  • Vessels:CSWIP/ASME Plant Inspectors qualification to at least level 1
  • Certified to UKAS category 2 or its equivalent
  • NDT: CSWIP Certification Scheme for Weldment Inspection Personnel Level 2 standard or
  • PCN (Personal Certification Number) Level 2 standard or above for:
  • Ultrasonic's (Welds 3.1 & 3.2 minimum) plus two of the following three:
  • MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection) All groups
  • DPI (Dye Penetrant Inspection) All groups
  • EC (Eddy Current) All groups
  • Schemes complying with either EN 473 or ISO 9712 will be considered. eg NORDTEST or APAVE
  • Skills
  • Essential:A working knowledge of the following international specifications:
  • ASME Boiler Code
  • API 510 & 570 Inspection Codes
  • PSSR regulations or equivalent
  • TEMA construction code and EN 10204 certification standards
  • Computer literacy using Microsoft or similar data base applications
  • Accurate inspection reporting skills using industry accepted acronyms
  • Desirable: Advanced inspection techniques such as TOFD (Time Of Flight Defraction) and corrosion monitoring
  • IRIS (Internal Rotating Inspection System)
  • Inspection of Wellhead flow systems such as Xmas trees etc'
  • Paint and coating inspection to recognised standards ie ICorr or BGAS/CSWIP
  • Useful: Good communication skills in multi language work environment
  • Knowledge of the French language
  • The ability to lead a team of technicians during TAR's within tight deadlines
  • The ability to liaise with both company and vendor when required
