We are specialist oil and gas staffing agency is working with large operating company who are looking to hire an onsite pore pressure engineer.
Duration – 3 months. Possibility of longer.
RT-PP monitoring/evaluation onsite
Plans to drill a very complex well (AliT1) in fall of 2019 about ~ 75km NE of Vienna, Austria. To account for this special case (HP) in AliT1 with the very high pressures (2kg/l SG+) associated and, in addition, a narrow MW-window, it is highly recommended to make use of an RT-PP specialist onsite. (pore pressure evaluation will be required from ~2000mMD onwards; current max TD 4388m).
The RT-PP engineer onsite will report to (OPS geology, ETRF-O). Key duty is to compare the actual information gathered regarding pressure-/ fracture-gradient situation with the planned assumptions.
Similar to the WSG, the PP engineer will provide draft versions of plots and calculations from LWD and drilling parameters along with other observations. After QC with ETRF-O, PP engineer will summarize all in a daily report.
(operator) will decide if one (or two day/night) engineers will be required
General requirements:
- Personnel proposed during tendering will be required to perform the job, unless agreed different with operator, in writing.
- Successful bidder can demonstrate at least 5 years of experience in pore and fracture pressure prediction & monitoring while drilling.
- useful Experience:
- in onshore wells
- geological setting: siliciclastic sediments
- PP source undercompaction
- Experienced JewelSuite software user will be treated as plus.
- Fluent English (German beneficial as plus)
- Fill table at the end of this document, one per each individual engineer proposed for this job
- Technical rating 60% commercial offer 40% of tender evaluation
Duties (+expected duration)
1 Pre-job preparation (first ~1 week, prior to spud) – as per agreement between contractor and client
- In detailed introduction into project and related offset-wells and offset-well analysis
- Detailed discussion of the expected pore & fracture pressures including uncertainties of current model
- Introduction into already existing geo-mechanical model and updated wellbore stability studies
- Gather offset-well data-set for onsite workload
- Configure available software: e.g. implement established NCT, tops, predicted curves
2 Onsite while drilling from ~2000mMD onwards (minimum duration 2,5months)
(actual duration depending on ROP; events e.g. casing-break or any other work which results in “not making hole)
Apply standard methods from LWD data and drilling parameters:
- Eaton method for PP calculation from Acoustic/Resistivity/Density LWD/WL data
- Load data into available software (eg. Juwelsuite) for visualization
- Apply/adjust NCT (with confirmation from head office)
- Cuttings analysis/evaluation (eg. pressure cavings)
- Interpret/evaluate drilling parameters (ROP/WOB, Dexp/Dc, Temperature, etc.)
- Provide daily report
- Attend daily meeting onsite
- Attend daily ConCall with project-team
Presence on site:
- Onsite PP engineer works in close relation with rig team (mainly WSG) and OPS geologist in office
- PP engineer issues his reports to WSG for further distribution, discusses observations with both, WSG and OPS geologist
- Sufficient presence on site is required to allow close monitoring of pressure development. Provide at least 2 updates per 12 hours, apart from routine related to morning report
- Strict adherence to the Austrian labor law is mandatory.
