Instrument & Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Summary:
- Assure proper design, documentation, installation and repair of instrument and electrical equipment.
- Provide expertise to support maintenance, daily operations, TAR and capital project activities.
- Ensure a culture of continuous improvement employing LEAN Manufacturing tools in a team working environment.
- Provide troubleshooting support and recommendations to operating units on equipment repair/ reliability including emergency work activities on industrial instrumentation and electrical, less than 600 volts.
You will also do the following:
- Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis and execute corrective actions for complex and/or repetitive problems.
- Assist in recommending training and development options for in-house maintenance resources.
- Provide engineering support to area I/E Supervisor as required.
- Provide input into the plants Maintenance Budget, to identify specific IE Maintenance needs and assist with prioritization.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate function locations in CoBalt/ SAP. This includes PM job descriptions/ tasks. This position is responsible for ensuring that the CoBalt/ SAP information is sustainable in the future.
- Hands on experience with SPI - INtools for maintain specifications and loop drawings.
- Responsible for defining and ensuring strategic spare parts are managed and maintained whether they are located in the block or the main stores system.
- Review and approve IFA packages (with Control Systems Engineer and area Engineers) for all area projects for accuracy and constructability prior to construction release.
- Support Production and Control Systems Engineers with project commissioning and start-up activities.
Qualifications:
- Engineering Degree or other related technical discipline preferably Electrical or Chemical Engineering and your chemical/petrochemical instrument and electrical experience you will provide instrument and electrical engineering expertise to an assigned area of the site
- Broad hands-on knowledge and experience with various types of instrument and electrical systems, equipment and software will allow you to assure proper design, documentation, installation and repair of instrument and electrical equipment according to regulatory standards
- Good working knowledge of all industrial instrument and electrical equipment and a solid understanding of maintenance work processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively with facts and figures along with the ability to influence, persuade and negotiate as well as strong interpersonal skills are required in this position.
- Have thorough understanding of maintenance methods, procedures and standards such as understanding details of instrument selection, calibration and valve sizing is needed.
- Knowledge of electrical systems experience up to 480 volts will be a valued asset.
- Knowledge with applicable NEC code requirements, including PSM, and Safety Instrumented Systems. DCS experience and PLC experience is helpful but not required.
- Experience in preventive Maintenance procedure writing is highly desired.
This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
