Role Synopsis
• Focal point for materials and corrosion engineering activities on the field, comprising 14 degassing stations, 2 water treatment plants, 6 water injection pump stations and over 1000 pipelines and flowlines.
• Responsible for managing the implementation of the corrosion management strategy including, risk-based assessments, corrosion monitoring and corrosion management to drive risk reduction across the field.
• Mentor and coach local national Integrity Management practitioners on the application of international inspection standards and best practice within the facilities.
Key Accountabilities
• Provide corrosion and materials engineering expertise, delivering safe and reliable operations in accordance with company values.
• Ensure pragmatic solutions are identified and implemented to manage risk, production efficiency, defect elimination and standardisation, to deliver safe, reliable and compliant operations.
• Act as technical authority for corrosion, materials, cathodic protection, and coating issues.
• Develop and maintain corrosion management systems.
• Owner of the corrosion risk assessment processes for pipelines and pressure systems.
• Support the development of risk-based inspection systems.
• Accountable for the definition, monitoring, and maintenance of corrosion barriers.
• Responsible for the specification, maintenance, and analysis of corrosion monitoring systems.
• Monitoring and review of monthly KPIs and performance indicators.
• Demonstrate leadership and compliance with HSSE expectations.
• Provide corrosion and materials support to failure analysis, RCAs, incident investigations and Fitness for Service evaluations.
• Record relevant learning in shared learning systems, incorporate into local activities, specifications/practices/procedures and escalate high priority lessons.
• Identification of continuous improvement opportunities for asset integrity management strategies.
• Ability to mentor and coach local national inspectors and technicians.
Criteria & Qualifications
Minimum educational / certification requirements:
• Degree qualified or international equivalent in an engineering, materials, chemistry, or other relevant discipline
• Professional accreditation, such as Professional Engineer or Chartered Engineer
Minimum experience requirements:
• 10 Years industry experience in the field of corrosion management and / or materials engineering of which 5 years should be in a senior position in an integrity management environment in a major oil and gas facility.
• Detailed knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards
• Technical application and management of RBA / RBI methodology
• Technical knowledge of cathodic protection systems design and operation
• Previous experience of organic coatings properties, testing and selection
• Technical knowledge of advanced NDT techniques selection, limitations, restrictions, and assessment of results.
Desired Criteria:
• Postgraduate qualification in corrosion and materials.
• Previous experience of working in a multicultural environment.
• Previous experience of working in a major oil and gas environment within a top tier COMAH site (Midstream or Downstream facilities preferred)
