The client, an oil and gas operator, requires a Geophysicist – (GBA Portfolio & Resource) to join them on a long-term contract. Multiple levels of experience will be considered.
Description:
Purpose of Role:
• Seismic interpreter within the Operated Assets multi-disciplinary subsurface team
• Deliver opportunities for production enhancement and resource additions through
subsurface characterisation, reservoir geological modelling and opportunity generation &
maturation.
• Support well planning & delivery programmes
Areas of Responsibility Competence Level:
• Responsible for all aspects of structural interpretation and mapping/modelling of
subsurface opportunities using seismic and other geophysical methods, under the
supervision of a senior geophysics mentor.
• Identify, mature and deliver opportunities for production enhancement and resource
growth.
• Responsible for completing geophysical work programmes in support of business strategy
and integrating results effectively with other subsurface disciplines.
• Communicating results and influencing stakeholders appropriately to drive effective
business decisions.
• Daily tasks include:
• Well ties using synthetics and VSP data
• Structural and stratigraphic seismic interpretation
• Velocity modelling, depth conversion
• Construction of structural framework models
• Mapping and volumetric assessment
• Seismic amplitude and attribute analysis
• Well location/path definition and optimisation
• Visualisation techniques
• Risking and resource uncertainty modelling
• Monitoring and assisting with specialists and contractors to manage seismic acquisition,
processing and quantitative seismic analysis projects
• Geophysical aspects of internal/external business approvals (Internal/Partners/OGA etc)
Critical Skills, Qualifications Experience, etc.:
Core Technical Experience
• Broad knowledge of core discipline, multiple anchor skills have been developed
• Able to deliver sound basic subsurface characterisation projects under limited supervision
• The ability to work influentially in a multi-disciplinary team
• Awareness of geophysical aspects of the well planning process
• Sound working knowledge of industry software packages, particularly Petrel
Qualifications
• MSc in a Geoscience subject, or relevant PhD.
