JOB DESCRIPTION:
Currently seeking an experienced Project Controls - Cost Manager to help expand its capabilities across large
multi-discipline projects for a large international mining company. Prospective candidates can expect to join a dynamic
and creative team focused on developing streamlined workflows, pursuing new innovative solutions, and enhancing
project delivery by leveraging data-driven project controls tools. As an integral part of the project management team,
prospective candidates can expect to take on a wide range of responsibilities within the role of Project Controls – Cost
Engineer including but not limited to …
? managing project controls activities on one or more projects including estimating, cost control, quantity control,
change management, and earned value analysis.
As a minimum, candidates are expected to have:

project delivery by leveraging data-driven project controls tools. As an integral part of the project management team,
prospective candidates can expect to take on a wide range of responsibilities within the role of Project Controls – Cost
Engineer including but not limited to …
? managing project controls activities on one or more projects including estimating, cost control, quantity control,
change management, and earned value analysis.
- developing engineering estimates in coordination with discipline engineers.
- developing Total Installed Cost (TIC) estimates in coordination with discipline leads using Material Take-Off
- (MTO) information.
- maintaining TIC estimates throughout the project life cycle by incorporating changes from design and
- procurement.
- maintaining historical cost data at the end of projects.
- implementation of new project controls software (estimating and cost control).
- Interfacing with Engineering/Design Leads, Project Management, Procurement, Project Controls, Document
- Control, Software/BIM, Admin, etc.
As a minimum, candidates are expected to have:
- a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management from an ABET accredited
- university and have over 10 years of relevant experience in project controls.
- Industry certifications in cost estimating such as PCEA/CCEA, CEP, or CPE are preferred, but not required.
- Understanding of Advanced Work Packaging project delivery methodology
- Understanding of AACEI Recommended Practices and Classes of Estimate and the different estimating
- techniques used to achieve the required level of accuracy for estimates.
- Experience with one or more unit cost estimating standards such as RS Means.
- Experience presenting and explaining budgets, cost models and estimates, value engineering/management
- studies, feasibility studies, and construction estimates to customers.
- Excel Power Query and Pivot Table experience desired.
- Demonstrated ability to work with designers, engineers, and contractors regarding technical cost
- plans/models and cost estimating issues.
- Knowledge in the principles and practices of international procurement/engineering.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to a diversely educated audience.
- Be professional and detail oriented.
