HSE Specialist - Occupational Hygiene

Description
Exciting opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety (HES) Specialist to join the ABU Safety Services team. The role will be based in Perth and will report to the ABU Workforce Health & Safety Manager.

Key responsibilities include:
•Provide subject matter expert advice and support to the business on current and emerging occupational hygiene issues, legislation, regulations and corporate occupational exposure standards
•Provide technical advice on a broad range of workforce safety activities, as required, including fatality prevention, safeguard assurance, motor vehicle safety, contractor safety programs both in Perth and on operational sites as required.
•Participate in or facilitate risk assessments, and the development and implementation of Australia’s safety and occupational hygiene controls, to ensure the effective management of safety and occupational hygiene-related risks across our operations
•Review contractor HES management plans and associated documentation as assigned, to ensure a consistent, risk-based approach across the business
•Key focal point in a multi-functional team tasked with delivering all environmental approvals required to support CCS Projects.
•Coordinating environmental studies, modelling and impact assessments as required, in collaboration with Project and Business technical SMEs.
•Prepare environmental approvals documents and revise the documents as required considering internal, public/stakeholder and Regulator feedback.
•Integrate company specific standards and requirements.
•Collaborate with Corporate Affairs team to meet requirements for public comment and stakeholder consultation.

Key Skills/Experience:
•At least 10 years’ experience coordinating environmental approvals (i.e., Environment Protection Act 1986 Part IV impact assessments and Environment Plans) in the oil and gas, or similar sector,
•Clear understanding of Commonwealth and State environmental regulations,
•Strong background in environmental impact assessments,
•Excellent written and oral communication skills, proficient in Microsoft suite of applications
•Strong initiative and ability to track and communicate progress against Project milestones.
•Post-graduate qualification in Occupational Hygiene
•Previous experience in the oil and gas / liquefied natural gas industry
•Experience in facilitating risk assessments
•10+years’ experience in occupational hygiene/health and safety in an industrial setting
•Ability to visit and short stay at operational sites as required.

•Demonstrated ability to provide sound technical and risk-based advice on safety and occupational hygiene risks
•Demonstrated ability to identify and build key relationships which contribute to business results

This is a Perth based role and will require occasional site travel.
