Service Engineer (outside of IR35)
Contract:- 12-months.
Home based, travelling to customer sites.
Rate:- Negotiable
The client is seeking an experienced Service Engineer (power sector experience), to deliver after-sales support activities, from provision of remote technical support to onsite visits to provide breakdown recovery, servicing, planned preventative maintenance, fault finding, and modification works to Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
Main Responsibilities-
• To service a range of client DCS Systems, including configuration, modification, cleaning, adjustment, preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
• Provide high quality system & application support to customers, on site and/or by remote link / telephone.
• Devise, prepare and present system service products.
• Provide a high-level field and in-house technical support, including out of hours support, as necessary.
• Fulfil maintenance contract obligations.
• Commissions’ equipment in the field.
• Advises clients as to maintenance procedures, evolution, site planning, operational methods, process measurement and control.
• Promotes sales of maintenance services and equipment, including spare parts and advises service sales department of possible sales leads.
• Assists with preparation of quotations.
• Carries out feasibility studies and lifecycle audits on behalf of clients and recommends courses of action in order for client to overcome plant and control problems.
• Be available on an ‘on call’ basis to support customers out of hours and, if necessary, make unscheduled site visits.
• Prepares and writes technical reports for internal and external use.
• Other duties as allocated by line manager.
Experience:-
Good understanding of process control industry.
Thorough process control engineering experience, including site work.
Commercial awareness.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of at least one Distributed Control System, and ability to assimilate quickly through training
* Travel to the client site in St.Neots, PE19 as required.
