The highly valued Oil and Gas Client is seeking to add multiple Field HSER Advisors to their team on a 6-month long contract with the possibility of renewal, a camp based role, working a 14/14 schedule, FIFO from Alberta, BC or Saskatchewan.

The Field HSER Advisor will be reporting to the HSER Field Superintendent, the Field HSER Advisor is accountable for supporting project leadership to ensure that operational field activities meet the intent of the HSER strategy/plan.

The Field HSER Advisor will be reporting to the HSER Field Superintendent, the Field HSER Advisor is accountable for supporting project leadership to ensure that operational field activities meet the intent of the HSER strategy/plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports efforts to achieve field OE expectations, with the primary focus on Preventing Serious Incidents and Fatalities (SIF)
- Supports field operations as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Operational Excellence (OE), and Managing Safe Work (MSW)
- Support incident investigation, Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) and Learning Team events
- Liaison, coach, and coordinate SIMOPS plans and activities in the field
- Coordinate and support safeguard verification activities in the field
- Maintain the relationships between all operational functions within Canadian Business Unit (CBU) departments
- As the site MSW SME, support site leadership to ensure E - Permit to Work (ePTW) and specialized permitting meets MSW standards
- Ensure, monito and audit all workers obtain site-specific orientations prior to commencing work activities
- Inspect and audit all site safety equipment and guide business partners to inspect and maintain non-client safety equipment located on site
- Aid in the development of site Emergency Response Plan (ERNAP) plans and conduct periodic drills to test the effectiveness of the ERP process
- Maintain and review the functional group Emergency Management Plan (EMP)
- Be an SME with understanding of Alberta OHS and WorkSafe BC regulations
- Support the Field Environment Coordinator ensuring adherence to regulations
- Review leading indicator submissions and communicate learnings to both the site operations team and the greater HSER support network
- Perform Verify & Validate (V&V) activity in support of HSER requirements, including Contractor Health Environment Safety Management (CHESM) and equipment checklists
- Coordinate and participate in Hazard Identification activities, including Hazard Tagging, Hazard Hunts and coach site personnel on Hazard I.D. (HID) techniques
- Coach and Mentor site leadership on engaging activities, including Behavior-based safety and visible safety leadership
- Assist work groups to complete quality Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) and participate in tailgate reviews with site workers
- Act as a leader during incident and near-miss events, including freezing the scene, gather data, ensure leadership notifications are made and support site leadership to effectively communicate expectations to responders
- Support fatality prevention efforts that interact with the MSW process (including Pre-Planning Hazard Assessments (PPHAs/L2 and risk assessments)
- Support systematic application of Start Work Checks and Save Your Life Actions
- Review completed permits to work, specialty permits and plans for improvement opportunities
- Actively seek out optimizations to align site HSER activities with concurrent activity located in close-proximity or as determined by the HSER Field Coordinator
Experience
- 5-10 years of experience in HSER support in upstream operations, civil, pipeline, drilling, completions, facility construction, field operations and abandonments
- Mange independently in a fast-paced business but actively contributes to a Team environment
- Require a NCSO designation or greater
- 14 on - 14 off rotating day shift schedule
