An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with a Global EPC in Perth CBD as a Senior Piping Designer on a 12-month contract.
The successful candidate will independently produce technically correct, timely and cost-effective models, drawings and technical documentation that consider total project requirements; providing technical assistance for all aspects of project design work as required.
Ensure compliance with the design rules and procedures in force within the company to assist and supervise the work performed by assigned designers.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
• Independently generate deliverables on standard relevant design templates to meet project requirements.
• Be effective, efficient, and fit for purpose in the delivery of solutions and documents
• Compliance with client requirements, the clients’ standards & recognized industry standards with respect to design work scopes
• Provision of technical assistance (including checking) for all aspects of project design work
• Originate and check design deliverables (including models and all technical documentation) as required by the project and engineering teams in accordance with project, statutory and the clients guidelines to project schedule
• Interface with 3rd party design team / engineering services as required on a specific project basis
• Interface with other engineering / design disciplines during course of project execution
• Provide Technical Assistance where required (site support)
• Assist on an ad hoc basis as required by additional projects / tenders
• Chair project and design team meetings as required
• Maintain awareness of and compliance with the Management System procedures which directly affect the work undertaken
• Assist assigned Relevant Engineering Project Manager and Discipline Lead define resource requirements and document deliverables to meet project technical and schedule requirements
• Participate in formal or informal reporting to Discipline Lead on progress of tasks, budget and schedule progress, lessons learnt and resources
• Attend meetings with Clients, Suppliers and / or Consultants to assist on technical issues and support engineering
• As required by tenders, prepare appropriate content and lean man hours estimates to support tender submission
• Assist Discipline Lead in development of Discipline Technical Notes and Guidelines when required.
• Build positive relationships within the client and externally within related professional entities
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Demonstrable knowledge of oil and gas industry, preferably in offshore brownfields projects
• Computer literacy
• Relevant discipline experience, CAD systems (including AutoCAD, Microstation, PDMS/E3D, S3D), with strong ability in PDMS and AutoCAD)
• Minimum 5 years working as an in-house Designer
• Experience working within oil and gas or a related industry
• Previous or current MSIC and BOSIET preferred advantageous
